Glossary of terms (available in English only)

Note - The following terms are described as they apply in the context of the ACI Airport Economics Report.This list is not exhaustive.

Single till: Under the single till principle airport activities (aeronautical and commercial) are taken into consideration to determine the level of airport charges. Hybrid till: Hybrid till is a mix of single till and dual till regulation. Hybrid till starts as a dual till approach where the aeronautical and non- aeronautical activities are first ring fenced and then some percentage of non-aeronautical revenues are used to cross subsidize and determine the aeronautical charges. Also, under hybrid till approach the airport owner/operator may choose to recover landing costs on the basis of the single-till approach while establishing terminal costs on the basis of the dual-till approach. Dual till: Under the dual-till approach, the full cost associated with the airport and its essential ancillary services are allocated between the airport owner/operator and the airport users. Single Till: Under the single till principle airport activities (aeronautical and commercial) are taken into consideration to determine the level of airport charges. Hybrid Till: Hybrid till is a mix of single till and dual till regulation. Hybrid till starts as a dual till approach where the aeronautical and non- aeronautical activities are first ring fenced and then some percentage of non-aeronautical revenues are used to cross subsidize and determine the aeronautical charges. Also, under hybrid till approach the airport owner/operator may choose to recover landing costs on the basis of the single-till approach while establishing terminal costs on the basis of the dual-till approach. Dual Till: Under the dual-till approach, the full cost associated with the airport and its essential ancillary services are allocated between the airport owner/operator and the airport users. The costs allocated to air traffic include only those costs associated with the facilities that are actually used by the aircraft operators and end the end-users. No adjustment is made to this cost basis to reflect non-aeronautical revenues accruing to the airport.

Single Till: Under the single till principle airport activities (aeronautical and commercial) are taken into consideration to determine the level of airport charges. Hybrid Till: Hybrid till is a mix of single till and dual till regulation. Hybrid till starts as a dual till approach where the aeronautical and non- aeronautical activities are first ring fenced and then some percentage of non-aeronautical revenues are used to cross subsidize and determine the aeronautical charges. Also, under hybrid till approach the airport owner/operator may choose to recover landing costs on the basis of the single-till approach while establishing terminal costs on the basis of the dual-till approach. Dual Till: Under the dual-till approach, the full cost associated with the airport and its essential ancillary services are allocated between the airport owner/operator and the airport users. The costs allocated to air traffic include only those costs associated with the facilities that are actually used by the aircraft operators and end the end-users. No adjustment is made to this cost basis to reflect non-aeronautical revenues accruing to the airport.
