Bautista. At the present, Brother Hernandez isserving the church without compensation, butBerea’s Missions Committee voted unanimouslyto provide him some monthly support. We arenow looking for a partnering church in theU.S. to support his ministry.

AT TEMPLO JESÚSDIVINO SALVADOR,Pastor Miguel MartinezOrtiz is praying for a pieceof property to relocate hisexpanding congregation.Currently they are meet-ing in a temporary struc-

ture at the pastor’s residence. $25,000 isneeded to purchase the lot he has chosen inAyotzintepec. They have a prayer meetingevery Friday evening to petition God aboutthis need. Last month, Pastor Martinezreported four new members.

Spring 2010 [ 5 ][ 2 ] Berea Ministries

TEMPLO PEÑA DEHOREB had been with-out a pastor for severalmonths, when JiverAntonio Dominguez, a

young Free Will Baptist minister, went there. When he arrived, he discovered that the con-gregation without a shepherd had literally goneto zero. He immediately went to work in thecommunity of Camelia Roja, a small Oaxacanlocality of slightly more than 1,500 residents. Please pray for Pastor Dominguez as he visitshouse to house, sharing the gospel message.

PASTOR ARNULFO CHABLEVALENCIA trained seventeen church leaderslast quarter. He led them in defining God’spurpose for their church, developing a strategyfor evangelizing their community, and dis-cussing how to turn their members into minis-ters. At the end of last year, the church, whichis located in the Mayan state of Quintano Roo,had reached more than 100 members!

THE CONGREGATION OF TEMPLOEMANUEL in Chimalhuacan has recentlyadded a third level to their church building toaccommodate their Sunday School program. However, they lack approximately $2,500 tocomplete the concrete roof. Pastor Juan MarcoGalaviz Garcia asks that you join them inprayer about this need. The opportunity theyhave in this 750-year-old city is great.Chimalhuacan is a part of the greater MexicoCity area, and has a population of half a mil-lion people.

WHILE REFLECTING ON HIS LASTYEAR’S MINISTRY, Pastor BonifacioJiménez Pacheco remarked: “We planned tobuild during 2009, but instead we built withour prayers and fasting. And the prayers arebeing answered, because families are comingtogether after five or six years of separation.Just this month we had one to be saved. Wegive thanks to God for that.” BrotherBonifacio serves Templo Efeso, a Mazateco-speaking church in the mountainous community of La SoledadPiedra Ancha near SanBartolomé Ayautla.

UNION CHAPEL FREE WILL BAPTISTCHURCH in Chocowinity deserves a hugethank you from Templo Berea. The NorthCarolina church donated funds to ensure that

Pastor ManuelPérez Palmacould installdoors and win-dows in his newconstructionlocated in the cityof Tuxtepec,

Oaxaca. In addition, the church was affordedthe opportunity to pour a concrete floor in thefacility. The encouraged elder pastor said in aletter to Berea’s president that he now feels“rejuvenated and ready to work.”

PASTOR MANUEL ÁLVAREZ GARCÍAset a goal of winning three families to Christduring 2009. Yet when the new year came, fivefamilies had been won to the Lord and addedto the membership of Templo Rios de AguaViva in Ejido Rancho Alegre. This communityis located in Mecatlán, a city where 81% ofthe people still speak Totonaco.

LA IGLESIA BAUTISTA LIBRE ENCOSTA RICA (the Free Will Baptist Churchin Costa Rica) just celebrated their three yearanniversary. Pastor Pablo Fernandez Abarcareports that the work now consists of four dis-tinct congregations in El Cajon, central PérezZeledón, San Francisco, and Vista del Mar.They have a combined membership of 350souls and ten preachers. During a single monthearly in 2010, twenty-five people put their faithin the Savior. The work there is strong, butadditional financial support is needed to meetthe growing demands of the ministry

LONGTIME FREEWILL BAPTIST JOSÉRENDÓN VERGARApastors Templo Cristo LaÚnica Esperanza inNetzahualcóyotl, México. Not only does this church

reach their own community with the gospel, which is evidenced in their six baptismal can-didates, but they also have an active missionsprogram. For instance, they are financiallyassisting retired pastor Bernardino Martinezwith his health needs and selling homemadeitems to raise support for Brother CesarSalomón, who is planting a mission church inthe community of Revolucion.

BEREA MISSIONS COMMITTEE MEMBER ROBERT HELMS led a group ofBuckeyes to the border-city of Reynosa for aweeklong work trip. These faithful men fromIndiana accomplished several projects at El Seminario Bíblico La Cruz, including constructing a foyer in the Munsey MemorialTabernacle, updating the electrical system, andenclosing a much-needed storage area. We aregrateful for their dedication and sacrifice.

THROUGH THE YEARS, many Free WillBaptists have travelled beneath the border ofthe United States with the late HowardMunsey. Following his death, two of thesemen took on the responsibility of leadingMunsey’s annual work team. Jimmy Riddle(TN) and Woody White (KY) organized the2010 group to continue the previously startedwork in Felipe Carillo Puerto, Quintano Roo.They not only constructed several block wallsand provided resources for the pastor, but theyalso distributed gospel tracts in the community.

WHEN PLANNING YOUR NEXT MISSION TRIP, why not consider travellingto Latin America. Brecha E-99 Col. Vamos TamaulipasCd. Reynosa, Tamaulipas, México.Rev. Hilarino Gonzalez, President

On August 1, 2009 the Association of Free Will Baptists in Mexico voted for me to take thetotal responsibility to manage El Seminario Bíblico La Cruz in Reynosa. My family and Idrive to Reynosa to work at the Seminary Monday through Friday, and then back toMonterrey for Sunday Services at Templo Rosa de Saron on Saturday and Sunday. Althoughthe drive is long and the work is great, I accepted this responsibility because I know JamesMunsey’s plan for the Seminary well, and have always shared in those plans, believing thatthey are God’s plans. I am confident in this, and will do this job as long as my strength willallow. I do my work with all of my heart, because I really care about this place and am pleasedto prepare God’s servants and workers.

I have many plans for the Seminary, which I want to share with you. My prayer is that some ofour brothers and sisters in the U.S. may be able to help with one or more of them:

We need to construct a perimeter wall on the west side of our campus to protect the studentsand property from the neighboring community. We have already had some problem with this.

We need to update the Seminary library. A financial grant would be very helpful, as many ofthe books we need are very expensive.

We need to remodel and make repairs to the boys’ dormitory.

We need to complete the renovations to the James Munsey Memorial Auditorium, whichincludes the ceiling, finishing the floor, adding new seating, etc.

We need a good 15-passenger van to transport the students and a 4x4 pickup truck for suppliesand maintenance.

We need a laptop and projector system for the main classroom.

We welcome your work groups to come to the Seminary, and we appreciate your financial gifts. But most of all we are grateful for your prayers.
