Project III

Banking & Financial Sector: Data warehouse Test Lead Client: Reputed European Bank (Domain : RISK) June 2016- till Date (at client site since 2014 Jan - 2016 Dec)

Project Summary:

The purpose of the project is to validate/verify bank’s Data warehouse loaded with new business logics/requirements for Credit and Modelling Team. The End user deals with the Bank’s Central ratings, Default list etc. The RFCs are implemented to Production through a process of scrum methodology.

Involved in the Scrum team as a Test Lead who coordinates a group of 2-3 people for each stage of testing viz DEV, ST and Performance test. Perform primary responsibilities for test environment set up, test data management, test planning (maintaining Sprint one Pager), coordination with ART(agile release train) for implementations.

Also take part in the several activities during the development e.g. test plan and test case design from the impact of the changes introduced in a new Sprint and analyze the new functional part to be tested during the cycle. The test cycle consists of DEV(including Functional Acceptance), ST (System Testing) and Performance test. The Testing process includes technical validation, functional testing and regression testing.

Project II (The Client is same as that of Project III)

Banking & Financial Sector: Data warehouse Testing Client: Reputed European Bank April 2013- May 2016 (at client site since 2014 Jan)

Project Summary:

The purpose of the project is to validate/verify bank’s Data warehouse loaded with new business logics/requirements (refers to a release).

A staging layer (DB2) is used to make the data in a standard format collected from various heterogeneous sources and PowerCenter is being used as the ETL tool and Teradata as the database for warehousing.

An excel based tool (TCS internal tool having Source/target/mapping template) is used to generate the XML for the ETL (PowerCenter) input, which creates mappings with Source/target/Business rules. The Data warehouse has a generic Data layer (BDWM) and business specific layers/data marts are designed on top of it.

Roles & Responsibility:

To understand the impact of the changes introduced in a new release and analyze the new functional part to be tested during the cycle. The test cycle consists of UT (Unit testing), ST (System Testing), FAT()Functional acceptance testing. The Testing process includes technical validation, functional testing and regression testing.

Technical validation includes Primary key, foreign key, attribute level checks, Source and target comparison etc. Functional testing is executed on the changes/addition of data and during the Regression testing normality of the existing functionality is tested.

Involved in writing SQL scripts for testing the changes of a release. Impacts are analyzed over all the layers of data and reported accordingly.

Defects are raised followed by the analysis. Also involved in Defect raising (HP ALM) and defect monitoring.

Test Data Management : Primary role played in Test data preparation for the various projects participating during a release. Also involved in Test data refresh from production, test file arrangement, Subset creation through PowerCenter mappings, tweaking, scrambling etc.

Functional Testing: Participated extensively in some of the Bank’s projects as Functional Tester. Requirement gathering, Source analysis, functional test case design, testing business objects, testing functionally the chain of data from staging layer , data storing with BDWM format and further processing to the data marts.

Achievements: Working as a test coordinator in the client site (since 2014) and having a good experience of handling a team of 4-6 people.

Many test scripts/methods enhanced by means of writing SQL, using excel as a query generator, flat file testing, using BTEQ etc.

A functional metadata prepared for the entire chain of data layers, which is used very effectively for impact analysis and regression testing.

Project I

Telecom: CDMA Product Verification Client: Reputed Telecom Company March 2011 – March 2013 Environment:(Unix interface)

Project Summary:

The purpose of the project is to verify (test) end to end call processing functionalities in telecom network with new requirements/changes. Upgrade activities, regression testing, specific feature testing were performed with several builds/codes.

Roles and Responsibility:

To understand and analyze user/business requirement and design higher level, detailed level test plan and accordingly develop test cases based on functional specifications.

Executing Test cases, reporting bugs, tracking change requests and delivering the product with high quality.

Involved in regression testing with several builds, specific feature testing, upgradation/installation of several simulated telecom nodes(ATCA, Advanced telecommunication computing architecture) with new builds.

Involved also in database testing. There was a parameter known as operational measurement (OM) which used to provide the information regarding any operation in the telecom node. The OMs were fetched from MSC to local database and then validated and verified.
