Profile

I wish to introduce myself as an Electrical Engineer, who had

recently taken voluntary retirement after serving as Assistant Engineer

(a Junior Scale Gazetted Officer rank) in Indian Railways. I have about

21 years of cumulative experience (in various posts including non-

gazetted posts) in various disciplines of electrical department in Indian

Railways and 6 years in private organizations prior to joining in

Railways. As a part of my job responsibilities I have handled several

multidisciplinary projects involving Electrical, Mechanical. HVAC,

Railway Signaling, SCADA, BMS, fire alarm system. Piping, utilities,

services etc.,

I am in the look out for opportunities for heading such mega

projects on above lines so as to make better use of my skills, knowledge

and experience gained over these twenty six years.

Jan 2012 till 21 st of May 2012 :- Assistant Electrical Engineer (Railway Electrification)

Contract Management calling for the following functions:-

Review and certification of the work done at site in connection with provision of 25 KV Over head equipments including traction masts/ portal structures and associated assembly for conformance to standard designs with respect to the given track geometry at site.

Test check measurements of foundation for structures

Review and certification of adequacies of design of 110 kV/ 25 kV Traction Substation including review of various aspects with respect to erection, testing and commissioning of EHT, HT Switch gear, protection relays, 110/25kV Traction transformers, SCADA equipment etc.,

Liaison with the Chief Electrical Inspector in connection with commissioning of 25 kV electric traction power supply.

Random inspection of pre-inspected items for conformance to their dimensional requirements, metallurgical composition, availability of inspection labels/seals/markings, wiring drawings, physical availability of auxiliary components etc.,

The responsibility also covers factory inspection / site inspection (stage(s) and final/ pre delivery), quality acceptance and certification, supervision of erection, testing and commissioning of 110/ 25 kV Traction substations, 25 KV switching posts,SCADA system etc.,

Jan’   2011 to Dec 2011 :-

Senior Section Engineer (Electrical)/ Air-conditioning @ coach maintenance depot at Basin Bridge yard, one of the largest coach maintenance depot over Indian Railways.

Responsible for maintenance, both preventive and breakdown, of conventional AC coaches with roof mounted packaged AC plants and as well under-slung mounted AC plants

Responsible for Responsible for maintenance, both preventive and breakdown, of recent versions of AC coaches of LHB (German designed coaches) / Duronto, Shatbdhi and Rajdhani rakes with state of the art micro-processor based HVAC controls.

Responsibility included planning & execution of maintenance schedules for 25 kVA inverters, 25 kVA converters, 2 x 500 kVA DG sets in power cars, state of the art IGBT based ERRUs, 25 kW brushless alternators etc.,

Responsible for complete management of human resources and exercised control over about 350 subordinate staffs of various trades & cadre.

Responsible for material management for day to day maintenance spares, unit spares and capital spares including indenting, stage inspections, quality plan verifications, conducting acceptance tests randomly at site etc.,

Responsible for employee welfare and redressing of employee grievances

Jun 2004 to Dec 2010:- Chief Vigilance Inspector (Electrical) Vigilance department/ Southern Railway

Responsible for governance of anti-corruption, assessment of contracts pertaining to public procurement & services, quality assessment etc.,

Responsible for identifying the lacunae’s in the existing systems/ procedures and identifying obsolete terms & conditions of contract, evolving corrective measures and implementation of such corrective measures.

Responsible for identifying the vagueness and loopholes for misinterpretation in the existing specifications for procurement of various plants and equipments and for execution of works , fine-tuning specifications in line with various BIS / IEC standards so as to make them self explanatory without any ambiguity and to facilitate procurement of correct quality of items at the right price.

Imparting training & creating awareness cross the vast spectrum of human resources, especially for those involved in procurement and contract management.

Recipient of the prestigious General Manager’s award on two occasions besides award for meritorious service from the Chief Vigilance Officer/ S.Rly on many occasions.

1997 to 2004:- Junior Engineer- Electrical in Electrical General services department / Southern Railway

Subsequent responsibilities included Design, Detailed Engineering, estimating and costing, preparation of tender specifications, drafting of quality assurance plans, tender schedules etc., and also supervision of installation, testing and commissioning for various projects involving

o HT/LT S/S, Internal power supply arrangements including PCCs, MCCs, HT/LT switch boards with ACBs / VCBs, HT/ LT cabling etc., with solid state relays and SCADA

o Illumination / lighting applications both for stations, yards, office buildings, including flood lighting, façade lighting etc.,

Responsibilities included Design, fabrication, installation, testing and commissioning of electrically heated furnaces along with their electrical control panels, quench tanks, degreasing tanks, wet scrubbers, feed water pumps, conveyors etc., for turnkey surface treatment plants and as well as chemical manufacturing plants for various clients.

The responsibilities also included scheduling, planning and co-ordination of maintenance of various plants and equipments of our own jobbing and manufacturing units located at various parts of India

Had been deputed to FRANCE for a period of four months to have hands on training in maintenance of sophisticated Physical vapour deposition (PVD) equipment at our collaborators viz., HEF end.

1984 to 1985

As Junior Engineer (Electrical) the responsibilities included Design, Detailed Engineering, preparation of specifications, bill of materials etc., of Electrical, electro-mechanical & mechanical plant and equipment connected with drugs, pharmaceutical and distillery units for turnkey projects for various clients in the following areas of application:- 

o EHT/HT/LT Substations, Internal power supply arrangements including PCCs/MCCs, HT/LT switch boards with OCBs, ACBs, SF6 circuit breakers, Industrial lighting, cabling (HT/LT power, lighting, control and instrumentation), Pumping installations (clear water and effluent pumps, process & boiler feed pumps, fire pumps,) ventilators, exhausters, scrubbers, agitators, conveyors, pressure vessels etc.,

Responsibilities also included preparation of TEFRs, vendor identification & rating / evaluation, contract management, on site erection inspection, certification, testing and
