CHRIS OWNBY FAREWELL Our Minister to the Christin Home, Chris Ownby will be wrapping up his ministry here with us at Faith Community and continuing his education in marriage and family counseling. We would like to show our appreciation to him with a cake reception following the 8 and 930am services on Sunday, June 4 in the Family Life Center. Be sure to give Chris and his girls your well wishes and thanks for their time served here at Faith Community .
NURSERY CARE for children ages 6 months to 3 years during the 930am and 11am services. Please check your child(ren) in at the nursery (gym) and fill out an information card. If you want to join our team, please email Kayla Marty at [email protected].
All Sunday school classes meet each week, 930-1030am. Kingdom Kids (ages 4 - 3rd grade), Quest456 (4th-6th grade) and Youth Sunday School (7th-12th grade) meet in the following rooms:

PRETEEN, JR. HIGH, SR. HIGH YOUTH GROUPS Every Wednesday evening, 6-730pm, starting in the gym. Preteen youth are for 4th-6th grade students, and Jr./Sr. High youth are for 7th-12th grade students. All students are welcome!

FLA SUMMER CAMP Faith Lutheran Academy’s Summer Camp is open to the public. Camp is Monday through Friday starting June 12 running though July 29. We offer a Christ-centered environment while attending the Willow’s Pool twice a week and off-campus filed trips. Campers will engage in fun summer athletic activities, water games, STEM educational programs, and arts and crafts. If interested, please email [email protected].
MOPS REGISTRATION Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is accepting registrations for our upcoming 2016-2017 year! This group is for all Moms with children age 0-5. Meetings take place twice a month with fun activities or speakers each time. Childcare is available if needed. RESURRECTION WORKSHOP Join us for the Resurrection Workshop on June 8 from 530 - 8pm in the Banquet room. Give yourself and your loved ones the gift of peace of mind! The resurrection workshop will give you the resources to plan for many end-of-life issues that need to be addressed, but are so often avoided. We will address medical care at life’s end, wills/trusts, memorial/funeral services, burial plans, and how to leave a legacy for the people and ministries you love. RSVP on the glass counter or email [email protected]. WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP Monday May 8, 6-9 pm Come and go as your schedule allows or stay the en-tire time. No agenda. PASTORAL CALL MEETING At the April 20th meeting of our Mission & Ministry Board of Directors, the Board voted unanimously to recommend that our congregation call Pastor Bob Sundquist to be our next Pastor of Discipleship. Please come to the May 7 Congregational Meeting, where we will be sharing how God used our call process to lead to this recommendation, and where the congregation will be voting on extending a call to Pastor Sundquist. The meeting will take place in the Sanctuary at Noon.
ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEAL & MEETING All members are invited to attend the Congregational Meal & Meeting on Sunday, May 21. The potluck meal will be held at Noon in the Family Life Center. Please bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share. The Congregational Meeting will begin at 1:00 pm. Following the “State of the Ministry” report, we will vote on the Ministry Budget for the 2017-2018 Ministry Year, and elect members for the Mission & Ministry Board of Directors.
LAS VEGAS RESCUE MISSION We are now accepting registrations for people who would love to serve at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission on Sunday, May 21 from 4:30 – 6:30pm. All ages are encouraged to sign up on the glass counter or at faithlasvegas.org .
BALM OF GILEAD Balm of Gilead is a Christian church in one of Las Vegas’ most desperate neighborhoods. The Balm is committed to serving people holistically, so they become healthy in every aspect of life. They are implementing classes such as tutoring, computer, life skills, parenting, marriage and financial from a Christian context. Facilitators and volunteers are needed! Please prayerfully consider offering your time and experience in order to empower others. Have a heart to serve the hungry? BIBLESTICKS Thank you for going above and beyond to show your love and support to our US military! Together with One Faith we have raised $6450 which equates to 258 BibleSticks. There is a matching grant so in reality 516 personnel and their families will receive the Word of God!! If you would still like to support this effort you can do so online or at the table in the Narthex. BibleSticks are $25/each.
NEW PRINCIPAL ANNOUNCEMENT Faith Community has extended a divine call to Mrs. Diana Bartholomew to serve as the next principal for Faith Lutheran Academy. Mrs. Bartholomew is a commissioned worker of our denomination who currently serves as preschool through grade 5 principal at Hales Corners Lutheran Church and School in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. She asks for our prayers as she considers this important role in our ministry.

EXPANDING OUR FAITH UPDATE We have completed 18 months of our 36 month Capital Campaign for the construction of phase 1 of our new Church Campus. Total gifts received, as of the end of April 2017 are $2,303,045.59. Thanks to all who have made pledges and/or given gifts towards “Expanding Our Faith”. If you would like to make a pledge or give towards “Expanding Our Faith” please contact the church office. With construction planned to begin in Fall of this year, the more gifts we receive, the less debt we will incur and the more ministry we can accomplish! Thank you!

The following questions can help you as you prepare to receive the Lord and His gifts: 1) Do you believe that you are a sinner whose hope for eternal life comes from
Christ alone? Romans 3:23-24 2) Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and your Savior? Matt. 16:15-17 3) Do you believe that Jesus is present in this sacred meal to grant His forgiveness?

Monday – In verses 7 and 9, Jesus says “I am the Gate/Door.” In what sense is Jesus “The Gate/Door”? The “Gate/Door” into what? Tuesday – How did Jesus earn the right to call Himself “The Gate/Door” for the sheep? Wednesday – How do you know when Jesus has become your “Gate/Door”? Thursday – In verses 1-6 Jesus paints the religious leaders of His day as being “thieves, robbers and strangers.” How had they earned these negative descriptions? (see v. 10a for ideas.) Friday – Jesus talks a lot about “voices” here, in verses 4, 5, 6 and implied in v. 8. What kind of messages are heard from the voice of false religious teachers today? What kind of messages are heard from the voice of true religious teachers today? Saturday – In v. 10b Jesus says that as the “Gate/Door,” He has come to bring life; life to the full; abundant life. What do you think He means by this? Are you living the “full life” of which Jesus speaks?
