Principal’s Message
Today some of our staff have attended the funeral of our gorgeous Mrs McDonald to celebrate her life. Our
thoughts are with Mrs McDonald’s family and our staff during this special time.
We are currently forming classes and organising final student numbers for 2019. If your personal
circumstances are changing in 2019, please contact the school on 49 447 215 to let us know.
This Friday afternoon we will be holding Student Leadership Speeches in the hall from 2:00pm. We would
like to wish all our students the best during this process. Mrs Lisa Monaghan
Assembly 7 December
Tomorrow Kindergarten 2018 will be graduating at our assembly. The assembly will begin at 9:30am. Bronze
awards will also be handed out and the choir will be performing. Bronze awards are accumulated after
receiving 3 class awards. If your child is yet to receive their award please note that these awards carry over
into 2019. Next year we will be presenting Bronze and Silver Awards at our regular Friday assemblies as they
accumulate.
Movie Day
We will be attending Hoyts Charlestown on Tuesday 18 December to see Ralph Breaks the Internet. Just a
quick reminder to return notes and payments. We do not want anyone to miss out on attending and we need
time to ensure appropriate risk management. We are looking forward to an exciting end of year for all our
students.
Kindy Club
Last Thursday was the final orientation afternoon for Kindergarten 2019. It was so much fun! Kindergarten
2019 participated in a range of activities such as pin the bow on the bear and blowing bubbles with bears.
Kindergarten 2019 will have received a date and time for their Best Start Interview. If you did not receive
yours or have any questions regarding your Beat Start interview or start date please call or email the school.
We are happy to answer any questions you have and help out in any way.
Carols by the Sea
On Tuesday18 December from 5:30-7:30pm we will be having ‘Carols by the Sea’ on our school oval. Bring
a picnic blanket or chairs. The students from each stage will be leading the carols and the winners of Redhead
Rocks will perform. Food will be available for purchase, glow sticks and song books. Please note that alcohol
is not permitted. Please dress festive!
Christmas Card Delivery Box
The Christmas card delivery box is out the front of the office. Please do not include lollies with the Christmas
cards.

Sports Assembly – Friday 30 November
Last Friday Redhead Public School celebrated another strong year in sport with our annual Sports Assembly.
We were extremely privileged to have as our guest speaker, two times NRL Premiership winner Mr Billy
Peden. Billy not only helped present awards, certificates and trophies, but also shared some valuable words
about persistence and following your dreams whether in sport or in life. The House captains shone brightly
and must be congratulated for not only running the assembly, but for also helping write the script. They have
all represented our school with honor. Shortly the record boards will be taken down from the hall to have
embossed the names of our 2018 Regional representatives who competed at State for their respective sports:
Cassie Corder, Alice Hill, Lily Crockett, Matildah Woolnough, Lars Bergmann, Clayton Watts and Jack
Ledbury. Thanks again to everyone within our school community for your help and support. We couldn’t do
this without you. Mr H

Year 6 Mini Fete
Last Friday Year 6 held their annual mini fete. There were many smiles spread around the playground and
laughter shared with friends. Students from Kindergarten to Year 5 had many stalls to choose from such as
lucky ducks, hairspray and tattoos, face painting and hairstyling station, soccer shots, obstacle course and
scooter board races just to name a few. Our talented students from Year 6 did an exceptional job to adjust to
the last minute date change due to the nasty weather conditions predicted on Wednesday. Everyone was
very thankful for the refreshing lemonade ‘spiders’ which cooled us down and the yummy cookies which were
decorated and quickly eaten. This year we enjoyed the change of not having to bring in as many coins and
less money was lost. After the fun Mini Fete all students got to burn up the dance floor at the Disco. Thank
you everyone who participated in the Mini Fete and a massive thank you to Year 6 for the incredible job that
you did. A big shout out to Mr H, Mrs Thomas, Mrs Smith and Mrs Kurtz for assisting in a successful day!
Redhead Rocks
Students have been very busy creating and rehearsing their items for our Redhead
Rocks performances that will take place in Week 9. This is another one of our
extracurricular activities where students are able to share their creative and performing
arts skills. Items need to be no longer than 2 minutes and students will have to supply
their own music.
Students in years 3 to 6 will perform on Thursday 13 December and students in K to 2
will perform on Friday 14 December. Three finalists will be chosen from 3 to 6 and three
finalists will be chosen from K to 2.
Successful finalists will be notified on the afternoon of Friday 14 December and invited to
perform at our Carols by the Sea on Tuesday 18 December.
Band
We were missing a few members of the band at our rehearsal this week. Please ensure you come each week
(including Week 10) as we are practising for our final performance at ‘Carols by the Sea’ on Tuesday 18
December, 5.30-7.30pm. Please let me know if you cannot make it to this event. Mrs Rhodes
Library
This week there has been no borrowing as I am collecting all books back in preparation for stocktake. Next
week I will send home overdue notices for students to look for titles they need to return. The library will be
closed in Week 10 due to stocktake but students will be able to return books to the black ‘returns’ tub if need
be. Please see me or call the school if you have any problems with your child’s/children’s loans. Mrs Rhodes
Choir
I cannot believe that we are nearly at the end of our choir year. All students have practised really hard. We
still have three more performances where we will be singing some songs we have learnt through the year as
well as a couple of Christmas songs:
Week 8 - Friday 7 Dec at 9:30am at the Kindergarten Assembly
Week 9 - Friday 14 December at 9:30am at the Presentation Day.
Week 10 - Tuesday 18 December at 5:30pm during our evening event - 'Carols by the Sea'
