Experimenting with Logos – Contribution towards the End of year Exhibition With having researched and knowing a graphic designer (Sarah Wilmott), I decided to meet up with her and asking for her assistance in playing around with some ideas for the logo. Originally my group (branding and advertising) had the role of the logo, but this was then moved onto the publication group. But with not much activity from the other group, I decided to go ahead and have a play around with logo ideas.

Not only that but the graphic designer needed my assistance of taking some photography shots , so we was able to both work together and help one another out.

Evidence of assisting the graphic designer:

With having my own studio setup, I was able to supply her with the right equipment she needed. Not only that , but I was able to assist her in getting the correct lighting and what she needed to know in terms of photography and getting the shots she needed.

Creating Logos

Before meeting up, I put together a list of ideas to make it clear to the graphic designer what I wanted.

From there we was able to work with a rough template.

When putting the logos together, rather than just screen printing everything, I decided to record the screen and place in a video so the audience can see the full process of the logos being designed. It was also a great reference for myself if I was to try and create a logo with no assistance of a graphic designer.

(Video evidence of the process found on the disc’s provided)

With having the name, it was easier to work with designs and colour. Having discussed with my group prior to this, I was able to look with working with bright vibrant colours. As you can see evidence in the videos, it shows myself and the graphic designer google sweet wrappers as well to see a rough idea on colours and packaging designs.

As well as playing around with logo designs , I also had a go at making a draft of a poster/banner design to see roughly what we would want and weather the logos I have designed would work on these or not. I then later shared the logos on the Facebook group page for others to see what I did and to help inspire the other groups designing the logo for ideas. Even though these logos weren’t necessarily going too used, I thought it be great to have a go and play around whilst I had the opportunity there. Not only that but I will be designing the banners for the show, therefore it gave me a rough idea and template to play around with in the meantime whilst the logo was being finalised.

Banner/Poster Layout experimenting:

I tried with having the logo displayed on and also without on the banner.

Without Logo placed:

With Logo:

I thought with eye candy, we needed to have something that represented photography, therefore I thought it be a good idea to have sweet shaped camera.

Final Logo designs I played with. I used both the blue and pink as the dominant colours.

I played with both the sweet wrapper idea and lolly pop.

As you can see I’ve played around with different designs as I had numerous ideas on how the logo could be displayed. With having more options, it gives the audience more choice. Even though these may not be used, they could possibly use for my own advertising for the show.
