Executive Summary
I am an emerging leader in health services research. My 2011 PhD,supported by an NHMRC scholarship, enabled me to master biostatistical and epidemiological modelling skills to analysepopulation-based datasets. I conducted the first study in the world to analyse historical trends in ambulance usage and to forecast future demand for services. Published in MJA (2011), this first author paper was awarded the prestigious Sir Richard Stawell Memorial Prize by the Australian Medical Association for best research article.
NHMRC Early Career Fellowship
Executive Summary Continued
My 12 published and accepted peer reviewed articles appear in Q1 and Q2 journals (Thomson Reuters). Additionally, I have delivered 14 oral and >20 poster presentations, including as invited speaker at the International Conference of X, the premier international conference in my discipline. In 2011, I successfully applied for and now lead a $500,000 grant for safe emergency discharge of the elderly.

Publication Summary
My PhD on the mechanisms of rapid oxygen loss during apnea in infants gave rise to 4 first author publications, including one in the top-ranked journal in computational biology (PLoS Computational Biology), and an editorialized publication in the top-ranked journal in the field of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (AJRCCM).
To date I have co-authored 20 original peer-reviewed publications, 1 book chapter, and 1 invited review; 7 as first/joint-first author. I have upcoming presentations on 3 papers at the premier respiratory and sleep meetings in the coming months demonstrating potential for increasing publications in the near future.

Citations
Scopus reports my citations as more than doubling every yearsince beginning my PhD with 3, 7, 17, 50 and 108 citations foreach of the last 5 years. I anticipate a further doubling this year.My H-index is 9 with increases of 3 for each of the last twoyears.
Successful NHMRC CDF
Contribution to Field
I am emerging as a young leader in my field. I have reviewed 8manuscripts for international journals Brain Stimulation and Journal ofApplied Physiology. I am on the organising committee for theinaugural Australasian Brain Stimulation meeting and the localadvisory committee for the Australian Schizophrenia conference. Inaddition, I am the chairperson of a local student group and was amember of the Monash Neuroscience and Mental Health NetworkEarly Career Researcher Committee (201X-201X). I have spokenannually at high schools as part of Brain Awareness Week and havevolunteered during Mental Health Awareness Week every year for thepast three years.
NHMRC Early Career Fellowship
Esteem Measures
In 201X I won Society for Gynecologic Investigation Young InvestigatorAward 201X and President’s Presenter Award for my plenary addressat SGI Orlando USA 201X, the world’s leading Obstetrics &Gynaecology Conference.
I also won the Royal Australian & New Zealand College ofObstetricians & Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Women’s Health CarePrize 201X and was invited to give a plenary address at the ASM. Theprevious year I won RANZCOG Provincial Fellows ASM Award and bestposter presentation Healthy Start to Life.

Relative to Opportunity
Only three years post-PhD I have...
In four years FTE research time since award of my PhD (having spent 1productive year in industry applying X to Y to achieve Z) I have...
Prior to submission of my PhD (expected Dec 2013) I have already...
In the 5 years I have worked 2 years FTE in research. Therefore Irequest my publication output of 10 peer reviewed journal articles beconsidered equivalent to 25 articles in five years.
Pitch to Industry
Audience: Industry representatives
Aim: Show you have achieved industry-relevant outcomes previously and can meet their current need
What to include:
• Previous industry-relevant achievements
• Industry relevant publication overview (tech reports, working papers, contract research)
• Knowledge of the industry need and a plan to meet it
• Expected return on investment
