Reptile Park Excursion
Last week’s excursion to the Australian Reptile Park was a great success. Our brave K-2 students had a lot of fun and learned a great deal about many wonderful Australian animals, incuding snakes, spiders, Tasmanian devils, kangaroos, galahs, cockatoos, platypuses, turtles, dingoes, Mr Thompson and many more. Islington teaching staff were so proud of our infants students' great attitude, enthusiasm, confidence, intelligence and exemplary conduct. Islington Public School K-2 represented their school with great credit. Thank you all for a fantastic day!

Chess League Tournament
Last Monday a crack team of chess masters
represented Islington Public School at the
Hunter Chess League tournament.
Islington’s chess players showed their mettle
in a gruelling series of matches against
challengers from the public and independent
education sectors. Needless to say, they put
all comers to the sword. Special mention to
Grand Master Oscar, who was undefeated
on the day.
Primary Major Excursion
This year’s major excursion to the Morisset
Outdoor Education NSW centre is nearly
upon us (Wednesday-Friday, 19th - 21st
September). Thank you to all who have
been madly rushing in permission and
medical notes, not to mention finalising
payments. Your efforts are much
appreciated. All outstanding permission
notes, medical information and payments
must be completed as soon as possible.
Cluster Choir
The Callaghan Cluster Choir concert will be
held on September 13th at CCWTC. The
show this year is called Around the World
and features songs that encapsulate the
excitement and adventure of travel. Our
primary students have been rehearsing and
are well on the way to putting on another
fabulous choir performance. Put the date in
your calendars. This is not to be missed.
A sausage sizzle will be operating before
the performance. Mr Lumley will corral
children at 5:30pm to get them on stage in
time for the show.
Birdman Soars!
Congratulations to Parnell from K/1T, who won first place in the Lake Macquarie Speech and Drama Eisteddfod.

Wednesday night’s STEM night was a huge success. Student guest presenters and P&C
speakers celebrated Islington’s STEM programs and our students’ accomplishments. What a
great evening. Thank you, Phoebe, Bonnie and the P&C team for organising a wonderful

class in depth. Next assembly’s
showcase class, held next week on
Friday 14th September, will feature the
uncannily gifted children of 2K! We encourage all our school community
to attend.
Tell Them From Me Parent Survey
The Partners in Learning parent survey is part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys on student engagement. The parent survey helps to clarify and strengthen the important relationship between parent and school. The survey questions aim to understand parents’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school, including teaching, communication and the school’s support of learning and behaviour. The survey also helps schools understand parents’ perspectives on activities and practices at home related to their child’s learning. Please take the time to complete the survey at:
