Hemispheric Fund for Tourism (FHT)

EIGHT (8) MEMBER STATES HAVE EFFECTIVELY CONTRIBUTED TO THE FHT.

THE BALANCE OF THE FUND STANDS AT $186,970.

IMPLEMENTATION OF DECLARATIONS OF THE XXI INTER-AMERICAN CONGRESS OF MINISTERS AND HIGH-LEVEL AUTHORITIES OF TOURISM

QUITO CONSENSUSCIDI/TUR-XX /doc.5 /12 rev. 1  

    The General Secretariat Activities Results Achieved

RECOMMEND that CIDI adopt the Draft Statute of the Hemispheric Tourism Fund (CIDI/TUR-XX/doc.6/12 rev. 1) and the Proposed Rules of Procedure for the Presentation of Projects for the Hemispheric Tourism Fund (CIDI/TUR-XX/doc.6/12 rev. 1) with a view to adopting them as soon as possible.

 

The Secretariat held several consultations with Member States on the Draft Statute and Proposed Rules of Procedure for the Presentation of Projects through the Committee on Partnerships for Development Policies.

The Statute of the Hemispheric Tourism Fund was approved in November 2012 and the Rules of Procedure for the Presentation of Projects for the Hemispheric Tourism Fund approved in January 2013.

INSTRUCT the Inter-American Committee on Tourism (CITUR) […]

To prepare an annual work plan in order to have an instrument to promote the development of the tourism sector in the Americas. To report to the XXI Inter-American Congress of Ministers and High-level Authorities of Tourism on the execution of the Hemispheric Tourism Fund.

 

The Secretariat drafted an annual work plan for CITUR which was presented to Members States for comments.

The activities related to the execution of the FHT are included in the body of this report

The annual work plan covering the period January to December

2013 was distributed by electronic circulation in April

2013.

To formulate a strategy to promote the participation of associate members, in accordance with Article 19 of the Rules of Procedure of CITUR, in its activities.

To prepare, within the framework of its annual work plan, a strategy to increase voluntary contributions to the Hemispheric Tourism Fund.

The Secretariat incorporated both mandates within the framework of the CITUR Annual Work Plan.

In April, 2013, COTELCO became the first Associate Member of

CITUR. Drafts of strategies promote associate membership in

the CITUR and to increase contributions to the FHT have

been completed and will be circulated to the members of the

CITUR
