The Department of Social Welfare andDevelopment (DSWD) is mandated to providesocial protection and undertake anti-povertyprograms and projects. Social protection isdefined as a set of interventions aimed atsupporting the poor and other vulnerablemembers of society in managing risks.
Statistics is one of the key factors inimplementing effective and efficient socialprotection programs and services. The DSWDrecognizes this and has developed atargeting system to address the need for morefocused delivery of services.
Statistics is indeed vital for the DSWD to ensurethe accuracy and integrity of its targetingsystem.
With quality social protection statistics andtargeting system, the delivery of socialprotection programs and services is morefocused thus reaching those who are really inneed of government services.
