Moonlighting: Revolutionizing the Sharing Economy
www.moonlightingapp.com
Moonlighting is an innovative marketplace, the first of its kind; it is the first on-demand
two-sided marketplace that allows you to hire or be hired, make or receive payments, all from your own mobile device. The employment market is recovering, but not at the rate at which many Americans would like. Many people who are working full-time are taking jobs they don’t want and struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living. Moonlighting is here to fill that void for Americans looking for supplemental income. The monthly M.O.O.N. Report (Mobile Optimized On-Demand Network) will tell the true story of the American Moonlighter and highlight the economic trends taking place in the new 1099 society. We will highlight how Moonlighters are contributing to the sharing economy, how many dollars’ worth of jobs are being generated and what impacts this societal shift will have on the overall employment market. The tepid economy has forced many Americans to shift from being W-2 employees to part time 1099 employees. The M.O.O.N report aims to capture the voice of the 1099 employee as it disrupts the $1T mobile commerce industry.

What Does the Sharing Economy Look Like?
The Mobile App Economy has been
growing rapidly since the inception of the iPhone in 2007 creating millions of applications and billions of dollars of commerce. The first wave of mobile apps focused on utility and entertainment with games, music and flashlight apps flooding the market. The Mobile App Economy is now 7 years old and is giving away to new Peer-to-Peer applications that deliver a different form of monetization. Enter the “Sharing Economy” a new phenomenon that allows individuals to connect, share and even transact via their mobile device. Over the past several years we have seen great success stories: UBER, Airbnb, DogVacay, RelayRides, TaskRabbit, Lyft, the list goes on and on. Many of these early entrants have validated the sharing economy theory for on-line or for their particular niche, but the market is still emerging. The “Sharing Economy” is still in its infancy, and because many players have opted to ignore over 50% of the U.S. population, Moonlighting’s entry is critical to its acceleration and growth. Moonlighting’s bold agenda will allow millions of people to carve their own path to how they want to hire or be hired in the next generation of Sharing Economy. Moonlighting’s Mobile First Marketplace provides the platform and turn-key solution to launch millions of jobs and create billions of dollars of income. The M.O.O.N. report captures the essence of the true Sharing Economy.

Today, there are people Moonlighting in 47 states as
the Sharing Economy reaches new geographical regions of the country. Moonlighters are both people trying to “Get Stuff Done” (hire), as well as people trying to “Make Money” (get hired). Moonlighters who are Getting Stuff Done are overworked parents who don’t have enough time, baby boomers who are unable to do certain tasks, and small business owners seeking short-term temporary assistance. Moonlighters who are Making Money are high school or college students, stay at home mother’s with idle professional assets, first time entrepreneurs, individuals trying to supplement their 9 to 5 income and freelancers who embrace the freedom and flexibility not afforded to them in the full-time job market.
Overall, males are more active in posting in the marketplace (61% vs. 39%), but when it comes to controlling the purse strings, females represent the majority of hiring posts and getting more stuff done than males. Many females are working mothers who use the marketplace to fulfill jobs that help steer the household. Referred to by Moonlighting as M.O.M’s “Mobile Optimized Mother’s” we see a strong affinity for M.O.M’s to dually participate in the marketplace by hiring and offering their own services at the same time.
