Am I eligible for moonlighting if I am a PGY-1 or 2?We can only accept PGY3 or above to moonlight. However, we highly recommend you apply in your second year to leave sufficient time for administrative processing.
What experience level do I need to have? You must have completed at least two years of residency training either in internal or family medicine prior to start.
What kind of practice environment is available for moonlighting and in what location?Moonlighting residents are able to work at any of our Urgent Care Centers throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. The average work volume is approximately 2 patients per hour.
What types of shifts are available and how many hours can I work?Shifts vary by locations, but availability typically includes 5, 8, 10 and 12 hour shifts to cover nights, weekends and holidays. We do not have a minimum hour requirement. For maximum hours, please check with your program administrator/director.
Do you provide malpractice insurance?Yes, we provide malpractice coverage for your services provided at HealthCare Partners in the amount of one million dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence and three million dollars ($3,000,000) in the annual aggregate.
What’s the compensation for moonlighting residents?
Moonlighting residents are paid a base rate of $100.00 per hour with additional differentials available for night, weekend and holiday coverage.
Do I need to be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the US?Yes. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate visa holders for moonlighting positions.
Do I need a current California State Medical license and a paid-status DEA?Yes, in addition, we also need a copy of your Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificates, if applicable.
I am interested. How do I start? Please be sure to obtain approval from your program director before you apply. Then visit jobs.davitamedicalgroup.com and search for “moonlighting”.
What happens after I apply online? You will first receive an employment agreement for your signature and will be given a start/orientation date. Our credentialing team will contact you to collect documents for credentialing. Our onboarding team will also reach out to complete drug screening and background checks.
How long is the credentialing process and how many reference letters will I need?Credentialing can take up to 90 days. We will need three reference letters, one of which needs to come from your program director.
When can I start picking up shifts?Once you complete the credentialing and onboarding procedure, you will be provided an orientation date for EMR training. The training is usually hosted on a Saturday. You will then be eligible to work immediately after the orientation.
