COMMUNITY SERVICE REPORT 1989_90
This year, as in pas! years, the requests for help vith conmunity projectshave been nany and varied, with nos! requests being for f inancial asslsrance.With l imited f inances being available, these requests have not been able toreceive altention.
The two establ ished and on-going Projects have received attent ion, namely:
1) Supervision a! Blue Ligh! Discos.
2) Potent ial for Technology Arard (g50.OO) for Nurioorpa
and Faith l l iBh Schools,
A donal ion of 970.00 vas forwarded to Toc _ H to enable an unalerpr iv i legealchi ld to attend the annual Canp,
Members of the Club assisted vi th labour for the f i t t ing out of theinlernal faci l i t . ies of the nev Nuriootpa Scout and Guide Ha1l. This h-. ln wasgrealfy appreciated by the Scouts and Guides and their parents.
Three students f rom Fairh r ,utheran Secondary Schoot are being sponsored
to the extent of $50.0O ro enable rhen ro arrend a j r r i rers i . tork ShopCamp to be hetd ar Vicror Harbor f rom 20th to 22nd July, 1990.
A landscaping projec! is being undertaken together l / i th the AngasEonCounci l to coincide viEh the Counci l rs Arbour Day Tree-plant ing project inJune. The area to receive al tent ion is at the inlersecl ion of penrice Road,Buna Terrace and Kokoda Road, Nuriootpa. The f i rst rork bee is pfanned for291n June.
The Austral ian Rotary Health Research lund benef i ted from aror_rersuccessful Band NighE in the Barossa. Special thanks nus! Bo !o Greg Tuckerfor organising this event.

Pride of l^lorknanship Ar,rards
The major project of the Vocational Services Cofiunittee
was the Pride of l^iorknanship Awards aimed at the i ' ine
sales outlets. Wineries i^rere judged on the way they
presented thenselves to the public.
Awards were presenteal in categories of smalI, medium and
Iarge wineries anal the event was well reported in the
local press.
The club was privi ledged to have as i ts guest speaker at
the presentation evening, David wardlai{, PresiClent of the
Barossa Val ley l^l inenakers Association-
Youth Awards
The Club supports Youth Activit ies through spolrsorship of
RYLA and the Careers in High Technology seminar series-
This year we did not f ind a RYLA awardee but were pleased
to hear of the value of the scheme to last vearrs
recipient. Kaylene Verral l .
The Committee was fortunate to f ind a Year 1I student who
we judged as suitable for nomination for the CRA National
Science Summer School. VJe wish him Lrel l in his atternpt
to get Distr ict select ion.
During the year the f irst group of students graduated
froir a Pre-vocational Engineering coutse at the Barossa
Valley Campus of the Light College of TAFE. The Corunittee
took the opportunity to join with local industries to
insti tute an award to recognise the achievenents of the
top graduates. This wil l becone an annual award for each

Plans have been maile to hold a joint neeting with the
Soloptinists to get to know the problems of Literacy nrith
a guest speaker f rom al istr ict 950 AduIt L i teracy

In I ' larch 1990 a "Brunch in the Batossa" provided120 Rolar ians and Eluests nj- th a norninl l of good food andwine, interest and entertainloent, and raised $1000towalds the overseas l lork of the Austral ian Cranio-FacialUnit .
FAIM was supported dul ing the year by thesubscr ipt ions of a l l new nenbers of the Club. I ' raddi t j -on a contr j -but ion of $400 nas hade to support aproject to provide a water supply to the Helena eoldieHospi ta l at Uunda in the Solonon ls lands.
Internat ional Youth Proj ects
The Club sponsored i ts f i rst student to spend ayear overseas, to l {est Gernany in th is case, and actecas host to an inconing student f ron Japan.
The Club also sponsored three students on theshort- lerm exchange progran to Ner,J Zealand in ' the year1989/90 and forwarded two appl icants for the prol l ram iBthe year 1990/91 .
