UNCLE WALLY WONDERSTHE U.S. PRESIDENTIAL CAR (called "THE BEAST")20 things you (probably) didn't know about Caddy one . . Andmight be interested to learn . . .1 - Power comes from a 6.5-litre diesel engine that's fitted witha supercharger to help haul this beast around.. Yet despite thismammoth power plant, the top speed is only 60 mph (96Km)and it takes around 15 seconds to reach this.2 - It is based on a GM truck chassis and weighs a staggering6,350 kg (14000 pounds or 7 tons). To put that in context, theRolls-Royce Phantom, one of the biggest cars on the road, weighsa paltry 2,550 kg (5,622 pounds or just over 2 tons) incomparison. This is why it only averages 8 mpg. (3km per litre)3 - A lot of the weight comes from the Armour protection. The

body is made up of steel, aluminium, titanium and ceramic.4 - The glass is five-inches thick and only the windscreen opens,to allow the driver to talk to secret service running alongside orto pay a toll. It is also hermetically sealed to secure it fromchemical attack.5 - Should the worst happen, the Beast has its own oxygensupply.6 - The military-grade Armour means the doors are eight-inchesthick and weigh as much as a Boeing 747's.7 - The doors are so thick that the president can't hear anyoutside noise, so speakers are built in to play the ambient soundof the crowd.8 - The underside is reinforced with a Kevlar mat to protectCaddy One from bomb attacks.9 - The fuel tank is leak proof and filled with special foam thatprevents it from exploding, even in a direct hit.10 - There are two holes in the front bumper that can emit teargas and fire smoke grenades.11 - There is also an infrared video system for the driver to drivethrough smoke and night vision cameras for driving in darknesswithout lights.

12 - Cadillac One normally flies two flags, the American flag andthe Presidential Standard, which are lit up at night with LEDs.When President is on a state visit, the Presidential Standard isreplaced by the flag of the country he is visiting.13 - The Beast has a fire fighting system located in the trunk.14 -Also in the trunk is a bank of the president's blood that iscarried at all times and when he goes out an ambulance alwaysfollows close behind.15 -President gets a presidential limo built to this specificationevery four years and the old ones are handed down to vicepresidents and visiting heads of state.16 - The vehicle can seat seven, with two seats up front, threerear-facing ones in the middle, and two at the back, one for thepresident and the other for a guest.17 - Inside, President isn't deprived of his creature comforts; a10-disc CD player is among the features, as well as a sophisti-cated electronic communications with direct phones to the WhiteHouse and internal Internet.18 - Defence systems include a pump-action shotgun in a com-partment beside the driver.19 - The tires are reinforced with Kevlar and can run when flat.

If the tires are missing, the steel rims have been designed toallow the car to keep on driving at speed.20 - Caddy One has no specific model name, but is called TheBeast by the Secret Service.I wondered how much it cost. But, when you think about it, itspriceless.

GETTING YOUR SUGGESTIONS HEARD The Business Insiders Young Entrepreneur Council

ecently asked for best t ips for measuring (and increasing) employee engagement. A founder of aational cancer organization responded with, Full transparency breeds accountability, which

aturally transitions into ownership. When someone is invested in their role and feels pride andwnership, theyre much more likely to star t suggesting improvements and working hard to better

heir work and the company. So what does that have to do with Toastmasters?

Plenty! HollyAnn Carbino, VP of Education exclaimed. Evaluators are the communicationsackbone of Toastmasters. They invest themselves in listening to and watching a speaker and

roviding them with encouragement and, more importantly, constructive criticism on how thepeaker could improve. This exercise in observation, contemplation, out-of-the-box thinking in

ome cases, and tact are vital to Toastmasters and can be immediately applied in the workplace tonitiate improvements and make things better. Come see how Toastmasters can help you get

our suggestions heard by visiting Washington County Toastmasters at our next meeting,Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Annex II Building, next to the Washington County Cornell

NEWS FROM THE DAIRY PRINCESS- Did you know that each morning 25 million kids go toschool, and some of them are hungry? A large number of children start their day off on the wrong foot

by not eating a healthy breakfast. Hunger effects students ability to learn and their attention span.We can change this with a program called Breakfast in the Classroom. The program provides students

with a healthy breakfast each morning at school directly in their classrooms. Most school breakfastprograms require students to eat in the cafeteria and this can make students feel singled out from

others. Thats why this program makes sure that students eat in the classroom together with otherstudents. Research shows that schools providing universal school breakfast (served free to all stu-

dents) have higher breakfast participation, especially when breakfast is served in the classroom, resulting in a higher percentage of students consuming breakfast. These well-balanced, healthy meals

include dairy products like milk, yogurt, or cheese that helps a student reach their goal of three dairyproducts every day. The nine nutrients in milk help to nourish their body as well as build their bones

. The meal only takes about ten minutes to eat and provides plenty of benefits for the students.Students who eat breakfast have higher math and reading skill s than students that dont eat breakfast.

I eat breakfast each morning and know how important it is to my learning skills. I recently attendedan event at the New York State Capital that supported and encouraged schools to add a Breakfast in

the Classroom program. Please contact your school to encourage them to offer this great program.

HAT DAY- Rensselaer Countys Everett Wagar Senior Center, 2 Roxborough Road, Grafton NYwillbe hosting a Hat Day. Wear a hat, your favorite baseball cap, your military hat, how about your night

sponsored by Blue Shield of Northeast New York, prizes will be awarded. Join us for lunch at noon, entre will be; Tuna Bake w/Wide Noodles, for a suggested donation of $2.75 for seniors 60 years of
