Literacy Activity One - Non-Fiction Unit

Think About:

What does the chameleon look like?

What are the main body parts of the chameleon?

What is the chameleon able to do?

Where might the chameleon live?

What might the chameleon like to eat?

What is a baby chameleon called?

This is a chameleon.

See if you can create a fact file about the chameleon. Try to write down as many facts as you can. If possible use this search engine: https://www.alarms.org/kidrex/ to find out as many facts as you possibly can.

We can not wait to learn lots of facts about chameleons!

Literacy Activity Two - Non Fiction Unit

What You Could Include:

What can you see on the ground? Up above? In the distance? Right in front of you? Hanging from the trees?

Which animals can you hear? Can you hear any water? What noise are the trees making? Can you hear anything close by? Can you hear anything right in the distance?

What does the temperature feel like? Is it a hot climate or a cold climate? Can you feel anything on your feet? What might you be able to touch with your hand?

Imagine that you are standing in the middle of this rainforest.

Write down as many facts as you possibly can about a rainforest.

Send the facts in a postcard to a loved one from your family to give them as much information as possible.

Dear Aunty Sharon,

Can you believe that...

Please see slide 8 if you would like the postcard template to write your facts on!

Now it’s your turn!We know that you absolutely love researching animals and thought you would enjoy creating your very own animal fact file.

Choose one animal to research using https://www.alarms.org/kidrex/ to find out lots of different facts.

It is up to you how you present your work. It might be a bulleted point list of facts, a poster or an information leaflet.

If you need some ideas of animals, take a look below:

What does your animal look like?

What is your animals natural habitat?

Describe the diet of your animal...

What is the offspring of your animal?

Do you know any interesting facts about your animal?

We know how important it is that we follow in the footsteps of Jesus.By doing so, we know that we are being kind, lovable and caring people.

We set you a kind challenge! One for someone you don’t know and one for yourself!

Challenge for someone you don’t know:Let’s spread some kindness...Either print out the rainbow or draw your own rainbow and write in between the lines a special message to someone in our community to help make them smile. When you go on your daily walk with your family, hide it somewhere for someone to find! You could even decorate it to make it extra special.Miss Fawcett and Mrs Storey would love to see a picture of you hiding your special message. You can send them to: [email protected]

Challenge for yourself:Proud cloud…By the end of this week, draw yourself a big cloud on A4 paper and write down as many different things as possible that you have done that make you feel extremely proud of being so loving and caring, just like Jesus.
