Relief Bus
Banquet guests were also introduced to the new
Relief Bus. This is the rst new bus ever pur-
chased by the organization. It will give at least
20 years of service on the streets, minimizing
the need for costly repairs and maintenance. It
features state-of-the-art modications, including
a heated serving area/kitchen covered in dia-mondplate, a sink, custom built cabinetry, and
chrome wheels. This mobile resource center
and soup kitchen will help thousands of people
in the days to come.
The acquisition of the bus is especially power-
ful during these trying economic times. It is a
testimony of Gods provision and favor, a result
of what God has done over the last twenty years
of ministry, and a foretaste of what is to come.Thank you to all who gave to make this a reality!
The 350 guests who attended this years Relief
Bus Banquet heard the amazing story of William
Gary and Jean Valerio.
Willie was homeless for forty years before he
received help at The Relief Bus. Jean has been
a regular volunteer for over ten years. Theyshared their powerful story of meeting God (and
each other) on the bus. As Willie began to share,
he pointed to a large photo on stage of himself
when he was homeless, and then pointed to him-
self and said, This is me now.
According to Willie, I didnt even want me, but
they [The Relief Bus] wanted me. He found life
transformation and freedom from addiction by
being shown love and care by Jean and other
volunteers. As Willie and Jean stood togetheronstage, Willie spoke of Jean as the mother he
never had. Jean said, I never would have met
Willie and so many other people if not for the
bus. I have an extended family. I cant tell you
what they mean to me.

The Relief Bus Inspires Creation of New Outreach
Volunteering with The Relief Bus has such a
profound impact on volunteers that many cant
return home to live a normal life. They return
home and get involved helping people in theirown community. Sharon Boyden is just one of
those people.
Sharon came out to serve on the bus with Life
Fellowship Church from Charlestown, New
Hampshire. This church has sent teams six dif-
ferent times to work on The Relief Bus. She says
that each time their group came out with the
bus, their desire got stronger and stronger to do
something back home.
After talking to people on the street, hearing their
stories, and learning from Relief Bus staff, they
were galvanized to start the ministry of His Help-
ing Hands (HHH) back home in New Hampshire.
HHH serves breakfast and lunch to the home-
less, hurting, elderly, youth, and those with
special needs, six days a week.
As of mid June, 2,750 people had been served.
Sharon says The Relief Bus showed them how
to do the relational part of the work in addition to
serving food.
Juan Galloway recently took a trip up to His
Helping Hands to check it out and spent the
morning there serving some of the guests that
came through to be fed, loved, and cared for.
He met a man named James who lives outdoors
and recently had all his things ruined because of
rain. Juan was able to encourage him and they
prayed together that day.
Juan says, James showed me his multiple stab
wounds and a bullet wound. He was abused
as a child and is one of the people His Helping
Hands works to bring restoration to every day.
The Relief Bus continues to cause a ripple effect
of compassion through people like Sharon and
the volunteers from Life Fellowship Church who
return to bring life transformation in their own
towns.
