A very warm welcome to this Referrer’s Directory 2017/2018 for The Holly

Private Hospital. This directory provides a comprehensive guide to all our

hospital services, referral information and details on each of our consultants and

specialists. We have also included details of education and training available at

the Hospital and in your surgery.

These are exciting times at The Holly Private Hospital following the arrival of new

personnel to our Senior Management Team and our recent CQC inspection in

which we received a ‘Good’ rating with ‘Outstanding’ for being well-led. You can

read more about our management team on page 18.

The Holly continues to set the standards for private healthcare and over the past

year have continued to enjoy very high rates of patient satisfaction with 99% of

patients saying they would recommend us.

Our quality and commitment to continuous improvement is also reflected in the

hospital winning two UK Customer Experience Awards 2017 and being finalists

in the Essex County Wide Business Awards, the Investors in People Awards, the

Nursing Times Awards and the LaingBuisson Healthcare Awards 2017.

We continue to invest in our people, new technology, equipment and facilities

and are looking forward to welcoming our new CT Scanner later this year. The

Aquilion Prime SP CT Scanner will provide new standards in image quality,

ensuring high quality diagnostic results, no matter the complexity of the

examination or the patient’s clinical condition.

or treatment by writing a referral letter to the

appropriate consultant (see the list within this

directory). For ease of referring patients, referral

Insurer accreditation

The Holly Private Hospital is accredited by and has

direct settlement agreements with most of the major

private medical health insurance companies including

BUPA and AXA-PPP and successfully undertakes

insurer audit on a regular basis.

Self-pay patients payment options

We offer fixed price package prices for self-pay

patients, wherever possible, so patients know exactly

what they will pay before treatment. Our self-pay

Diagnostic Imaging

Our Diagnostic Centre is equipped with the most advanced technologies and equipment to ensure we can scan any area of the body as required.

Modalities include:

• X-ray

• Ultrasound

• Full-body 3T MRI

• New CT scanner arriving late 2017

• DEXA

• MicroDose mammography - combining breast and

osteoporosis screening in a single examination.

Our service is run by a friendly team of experienced,

qualified radiographers. Images are reported by one of our

specialist Consultant Radiologists and sent back directly to

you or the referring healthcare professional, usually within

48 hours.

Our 3T MRI scanner is the most advanced MRI imaging

currently available privately in the local area and is quieter,

faster and less claustrophobic for patients, resulting in

advanced musculoskeletal, oncological and brain imaging.

Services include full-body MRI, multi-parametric prostate

MRI and cardiac MRI.

We have also invested in a new Aquilion Prime SP CT

Scanner which will provide new standards in image quality

and we will be launching our new cardiac CT Angiography

service later this year.

Phlebotomy Service Physiotherapy and Sports ClinicA phlebotomy service is provided by our

Outpatient department every weekday and Saturday mornings. The service is quick and easy, with rapid access appointments available.

Opening Hours

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 8.30am-4pm

Tuesday: 8.30am-7.30pm

Saturday: 8.30am-12noon.

Pathology LaboratoryOur onsite Pathology Laboratory has full UKAS Accreditation.

With a combination of state-of-the-art instrumentation

and computerisation plus a highly experienced team of

consultants and fully qualified biomedical scientists, the

laboratory provides a comprehensive range of pathology tests

and investigations on blood and other biological specimens.

Our service includes:

• General biochemistry

• General haematology

• Blood transfusion service

• Endocrinology

• Microbiology

Any assays we are not able to perform onsite are sent to

Reference Centres or hospital departments that meet our

accreditation guidelines.

Our pathology service operates six days a week with an

on-call service outside of these times.

Basic Life Support Training

The Holly Private Hospital offers Basic Life Support

training to our local GPs. Training takes place

monthly with morning and afternoon slots available

and lasts approximately 2 hours. We will provide

you with a certificate of attendance. Please note

that there are 9 places per course and these are

allocated on a first come, first served basis.

David joined The Holly Private

Hospital as Hospital Director

in June 2016 having previously

worked as Executive Director

of the BMI The Clementine

Churchill Hospital. David has

5 years’ experience as an

Executive Director (ED) with

BMI. He joined BMI as ED of the dual site BMI

Kings Oak & Cavell Hospitals where he significantly

developed and progressed this hospital so that

during his tenure they won the London Region

BMI Pride Award for Improvement in Culture

and Product.

Prior to BMI, David worked as a Hotel General

Manager winning a number of awards from Hotel

of the Year, Business of the Year, Customer Care

and Workforce Development awards.

David is also a qualified Facilitator and Trainer and

is also Management Development Lead for the

Aspen Healthcare Group.

Dr Lorraine Kelly (PhD)Director of Nursing and Clinical Services

Lorraine joined The Holly

Private Hospital in July 2016.

She was previously Director

of Nursing and Clinical

Services with BMI first at the

dual site BMI Kings Oak &

Cavell Hospitals where she

implemented best practice

across all nursing and clinical service areas. More

recently Lorraine was Director of Nursing at BMI

The Clementine Churchill Hospital where she

successfully led an extensive quality improvement

programme at the hospital.

Since her appointment, Lorraine has been focusing

on putting patient safety at the heart of The Holly

Private Hospital and implementing our Five Year

Clinical Strategy.

Luis Pedro Director of Services and Patient Experience

Since joining The Holly Private

Hospital over four years

ago, Luis has worked on a

number of projects to improve

customer service at The Holly

Private Hospital. Significant

achievements include

introducing a Patient Relations

Team with concierge service, developing the

Telephony Centre and building a team of twenty

call handlers to manage patient enquiries and book

appointments.

Luis has also brought on-board our award-winning

chef and completely enhanced the guest menu.

Other projects include working closely with the

Housekeeping Team to improve standards of

cleanliness and hygiene across the hospital. The

Holly Private Hospital is now considered one of

the top Private Hospitals in terms of cleanliness

as measured by market research company HWA.

Donna Gibbs Development Director

Donna joined The Holly Private

Hospital in March 2016 and

brings with her a wealth of

experience in managing and

growing hospital services,

both in the NHS and in the

private sector.

Donna spent nine years at the

Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in North West

London undertaking a variety of roles including

marketing, management of clinical and patient

services and most recently Head of Business

Development. She has a sound understanding

of private healthcare, consultants’ practice

development and the London market.

Donna works closely with our consultants to

develop their practice at The Holly Private Hospital.

She also oversees the Marketing, GP Liaison and

Business Development functions at the hospital.

Shabnam Rashid GP Liaison Officer

Shabnam has been working

at The Holly Private Hospital

since 2016. With over 20

years’ experience in the

pharmaceutical and private

health care sectors, Shabnam

is very experienced in working

with GPs and consultants to

make private healthcare services more accessible.

Shabnam is responsible for developing and

managing our relationship with local GPs, allied

health professionals and consultants. She also

manages our programme of GP education.

Anna Boyce Practice Educator

Anna has been working at The

Holly Private Hospital since

2013. Anna qualified as a nurse

in 1997 and was previously

a Senior Lecturer at London

South Bank in nursing. She is

a registered NMC teacher and
