Joost van Zwam commenced with Schenker Australia Pty Ltd - Melbourne branch,firstly as an overseas intern for a few months. It was during this time, Joost displayedexemplary skill that Schenker sponsored him on a Occupational Visa.
Joost began working in our Logistics Department as a Third Party Logistics Supervisoron the 25 February, 2002. His day to day tasks included:
• Studied client orders to determine quantity, storage location etc. of delivery, thendelegates duties to staff which include pick and packing, loading and unloading oftrucks, placing cargo into the warehouse and obtaining receipts from truck drivers.
• Responsible for the performance of stock takes and inventory management.• Updated stock records on computer, maintains records for invoicing• Analysed and resolves problems and assists workers in solving work problems• Worked with customers to develop targets and strategies.• Liaised with internal departments as well as external service providers• Worked with suppliers and clients in managing and implementing processes• Worked with financial management - departmental cost control, invoicing customers
and the administration of logistics processes.• Responsible for customer service within the logistics department• Supervised changes in working conditions within the department to increase
efficiency of department

Joost joined Schenker Australia (Branch Office Melbourne) on 25 September, 2000 toassist our Logistics Department in the four months implementation phase of a BarcodeOperating Warehouse Management Programme (HTS 2001).
We employed Joost for his fundamental knowledge and experience in logistics, which hehas gained working in the Netherlands. The ability to manage detailed programme-related issues in German as well as English was of great help to us. Joost hasdeveloped a specialised knowledge about the programme, the programme structure andthe processes in our warehouse.
