Vice President of Marketing

The VP Marketing is responsible for advertising around campus and the coordination of the social media sites. He/She will be in charge of different means of communications with business students, faculty members, and external partners for the Strategic Management and Organizational Club A summary of duties include:

- The creation of marketing materials, which include, posters, facebook banners, and other materials needed for events ran by the smo club

- Constant communication with students through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, the website and the smoclub e-mail

- Idea generation of marketing campaigns used to create brand awareness about the SMO Club and the SMO major for students

- Attendance to all SMO Club meetings to help promote the brand - Classroom presentations - Maintain events on events calendar held from the BSA - Constant communication with Student Group Services or other outlets to help

promote the SMO Club - E-mails sent to the undergraduate office

Qualifications

- Knowledge of MS Office - Knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign - Knowledge of most social media outlets, including, but not limited to: Twitter,

Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and the website - A creative mindset and the ability to work independently - Great organizational skills - The ability to communicate on all levels, from oral to written - Self-reliant and ambitious to try new things

Vice President of Internal Relations

The Vice President Internal is responsible for the club’s administrative matters and direct questions that are made within the club. He/She will be responsible for any relevant communication that is needed for the functioning of the organization, as well as communication with the Faculty Advisor. A summary of duties include:

- Creation of an online platform to keep records of agendas and meeting notes - Attendance to all meetings to keep record of what was said and what is to be

done - Communication within the group in regards to scheduling - Creation of a contact list of phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other relevant

contact information of all members of the group - Proof read of any important information that will be sent externally - Frequent communication with the club’s Faculty Advisor about the progression of

the club and its efforts to promote the SMO Major Qualifications

- Great leadership skills and the ability to adapt to different situations - Organizational and strong communication skills - Knowledge of MS Office - Self-reliant and a critical thinker - The ability to work in a group - Responsible and confident with interacting with club members - The ability to stay calm under stressful situations

Vice President of External Relations

The VP External is responsible to create good relationships with external partners, including Student Group Services and corporate partners. He/She must take the proper measures to contact third parties for SMO Club events. This position takes a lot of pre-planning work and responsibility throughout the year. A summary of duties include:

- Attendance to all meetings to inform all portfolios about external opportunities - Promotion of events to companies who may be interested in a partnership - Close relationship with the VP Events to ensure events run smoothly - Contacting all external parties for planned events throughout the year - Pre-planning between the months of June to August - Help the VP Events find volunteers needed

Qualifications: - Strong communication skills - Confident in interacting with parties outside of the school of business - Responsible and organized - The ability to be self-reliant and work as a team - Ambitious and confident to do cold calls - The ability to lead a group of volunteers - Great negotiation skills

Vice President of Events

The VP Events is responsible for organizing the logistics and schedules for several events made by the Strategic Management and Organization Club. This role requires a lot of coordination and co-operation with the Vice President of Finance and Vice President External. A summary of several duties include:

- Attendance to all meetings to coordinate logistics with the rest of the SMO Club team

- Contact with external partners for venues, food, funding and other factors that can influence the success of the event

- Communication with other portfolios in regards to dates - Responsibility to work with Vice President External for volunteers needed to

make the events run smoothly - Idea generation of new events to help support the SMO Club on the pillars of

leadership, networking and negotiation Qualifications of the role

- Past event planning or sponsorship experience - The ability to work with a group and individually - Comfortable doing cold calls to determine venues and sponsorship - The ability to lead a group of volunteers - Confident and ambitious to make an event a success - Great organizational skills - Outgoing, personable and self-reliant

Vice President of Finance

The VP Finance is responsible for budgets, money deposits, and withdrawals. Upon the following year, the VP Finance must designate an appropriate float budget to be left into the account. As well, the VP Finance role will be working closely with the events team to ensure that funds are allocated effectively. A summary of several duties include:

- Communication with other portfolios in regards to budget - Apply for student funding with Student Group Services, the School of Business, and

other partners - A yearly audit conducted by the VP Finance in accordance to the University of Alberta - Signing authority over transactions and withdrawals of the bank account - Reimbursements of purchases made by club members - Distribution of any prize money and acceptance of sponsorship given by funds collected

by the Vice President External Several qualifications for the role

- Great organizational skills - The ability to work as a team - Knowledge base of accounting and finance preferred - The ability to perform several paperwork duties such as invoices - Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
