Recruit Weekend

Every member of our team plays a vital role at our races, especially our A-10 Championship.

September 19-20, 2008 the women’s rowing program will be hosting its 2nd annual recruit weekend. This event gives prospective student-athletes the opportunity to visit the beautiful campus and experience the life of being a student-athlete at Duquesne.

When you arrive on campus you will meet with a host rower that you will shadow for the day and sit in on classes with; these classes can be in your major of interest or general liberal arts classes. You will then join with the rest of the recruits and the women’s team for an evening activity to allow you the opportunity to get to know the rowers and if you feel it is a team where you can succeed. Recruit Weekend

It is important that we receive certain information before you are able to stay the evening with us and take part in an official visit. If you would like your visit to be unofficial according to NCAA standards please let Coach Jenn know.

All potential student athletes are required to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse prior to an official visit.

A copy of your SAT or ACT scores must also be on file in athletics no later than one week prior to your visit. If your test scores are provided on your transcript that information fulfills the requirement. If not you must send a copy of your results via mail or fax to the rowing office.

Per NCAA standards an official visit is one in which the institution pays for the visit. Prospective student-athletes are only allowed one official visit per institution and five official visits overall. However, prospective student-athletes have an unlimited number of unofficial visits available to them. The institution is unable to provide meal money and lodging to prospective student-athletes that are on an unofficial visit and the institution is unable to provide transportation to and from the airport if the athlete chooses to fly.

A copy of your high school transcript must be on file with the department of athletics no later than one week prior to your visit. This does not have to be an official transcript and can be mailed or faxed to the rowing office.
