Year 2 Home School Planning

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

On this document you will find home learning activities that can be completed with your child . We have not set a specific timetable for you to follow on set days. This enables you to be flexible and complete the activities as and when it suits you and your family.

We recognise how important you and your child's, emotional and mental well-being is, especially during these uncertain times. Therefore if you need a pyjama day with movies and treats, have one! If you need to spend the day outside enjoy it! Please remember that you can contact us in school with any queries, concerns or any help you may need.

We love to see what the children have been doing and would be delighted if you could upload any of their work onto HWB . You will find step by step ‘How to…’ guides below and on the year group page.

Read a storyRead the story Ronald the Rhino. Talk about the story with your child and ask questions about what is happening. Predict what may happen next. (see link on Year 2 page to access story)

Then read the posters about African animals(slides 10 -12). Use the internet to find out about African animals. Choose an African Animal to write facts about. You may choose to write these on your HWB account. Remember to save your work.

Daily Do’*Practise reading with an adult.

*Practise writing letter formations to include lower case letters and capitals. * Copy sentences from a book to practise your handwriting. * Talk about what you have been doing that day with your families

You may wish to choose the ones most suited to your child for them to complete. (Slides 5-7)Measuring

Measure the snake you have designed (creative development).Draw a longer snake... maybe 2cm,5cm or 10cm longer than your original.Draw a shorter snake. How long is he? How much shorter is he?Cut out, measure and sequence the snakes

(slide 8).

Daily Do’s *Counting - on/back in 2s, 5s, 10s and then 4s and 3s from different numbers * Practise chanting times tables and write them down.

You are special.Think about why you are special.Draw a picture of yourself and label what is special about you.Write down special groups that you belong to...eg family, friends, Rainbows? Beavers etc.
