visitor centre shop

Blenheim Palace is home to the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough. We designed a new visitor centre shop set within a covered over courtyard, once used as the drying ground for the laundry. The retail system is both a contemporary and versatile free standing design and respects the 18th Century setting, with fittings which allow vision through to the attractive stone wall behind.

20-22 Bedford Row in Holborn was designed as part of a trio of office building refurbishments for F&C REIT Asset Management. Large glass panels with mesh interlayers lean back against the 2 flank walls emitting coloured light across the entrance lobby. The lighting is programmed to create different moods throughout the day and was developed in collaboration with EQ2 lighting consultants.

Housed in The Sammy Ofer Wing, the retail space occupies the lobby of the Special Exhibition Gallery to display exhibition related product. The retail system has been designed to be very flexible and adaptable for the future. Mobile mid floor units are modular to form different size units to allow the retail offer to vary in size and format for both ‘blockbuster’ and smaller exhibitions.

Berkeley Street

14 Berkeley Street in Mayfair was conceived as a “boutique hotel” providing a quality environment more associated with small independent hotels than a traditional office interior. The project involved refurbishing the entrance lobby, reception and the com-mon parts on the upper 5 storeys. A curved leather and polished stainless steel desk, Arrabescato marble floors, walnut panelling and glass with metal gauze wall claddings create a sophisticated reception.

Cutty Sarkexhibition shop

Launched in 1896, Cutty Sark is the last surviving tea clipper and has been refurbished and re-housed by Grimshaw Architects. Lustedgreen won a competition to design the retail space within the glazed lobby, which created both unique opportunities and challenges. Inspired by traditional tea crates and constructed of elm, used in the ship’s construction, the modular retail units reflect the shipwright’s craftsmanship.

For Royal Collection enterprises we completed 2 projects this year. At Buckingham Palace, The Royal Mews shop was refurbished in two weeks and in the summer, in line with the annual opening of the State Rooms, we completed an enlarged visitor centre shop in a 4500 square feet temporary structure.

House of FraserTea Terrace

Run by The Very English Group, the Oxford Street cafe is the 2nd of a new chain of tea rooms to open both in House of Fraser shops and independent locations around the country. The Very English brand offers a contemporary celebration of the traditional English values of taking tea, in a sociable, relaxed and comfortable meeting place, a contemporary interpretation of the classic English tea house.

Foyles Book Shopwestfield stratford

19

Foyles iconic Charing Cross Road store was established in 1903. The new shop in Straford was designed to not only hold a great deal of stock, but to express Foyles’ individuality as a bookseller and their passion for books. They wanted to retain a broad customer appeal and put a strong emphasis on the "physicality" of traditional paper books, which we realised as book art; for example a cash desk built of books.
