MEMORANDUM TO: Faculty in the College of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences undergraduate students FROM: Dr. Marek Radomski, Vice Dean Research DATE: December 12, 2017 Re: Biomedical Summer Research Projects The Office of the Vice Dean Research (OVDR) is excited to announce the beginning of another round of Biomedical Summer Research Projects. This program is intended to assist in the research training of our undergraduate students enrolled in the Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, Physiology, and Pharmacology programs. The ultimate goal of these awards is to give students valuable lab experience and to encourage them to continue on to a graduate studies program. This year, we will fund approximately 18 projects, dependent upon the number of quality applications received. The OVDR will be fully funding 10-week projects with the option given to faculty supervisors to fund an additional six weeks—to be funded from the supervisor’s own research funding source. The contribution of our office will be approximately $5,500 and must be used entirely for the salary of the student for 10 weeks. In order to be eligible to apply, supervisors must be College of Medicine faculty, and students must be undergraduate students enrolled in one of the Biomedical departments in the College of Medicine. Students and supervisors with similar research interests are encouraged to contact each other and begin the application process. The application form can be found on the Biomedical Projects page (https://medicine.usask.ca/biomedprojects.php) and must be submitted to [email protected] in full by March 15, 2018 to be considered for funding. For more details regarding this funding opportunity, please review the comprehensive guidelines and application form on the Biomedical Summer Research Projects page (provided above). For additional questions, please contact [email protected].
