The greatest economic losses caused by earthquakes are typically inflicted upon equipment and structures, such as buildings, bridges, power plants and other life support systems critical to a modern civilization. There is growing national emphasis on seismic risk assessment, seismic design requirement for new structures, and seismic retrofit of existing structures. Reliability of electrical equipment and their supporting structures against vibrational hazards due to earthquakes has become a prime need. Confidence in product reliability and functionality during and after an earthquake event is critical for many aspects of the Electric power and Telecommunications Industries, particularly with respect to safety related equipment. Hence investment in preventive measures to minimize earthquake damage is a sensible and cost effective approach.

Earthquake Engineering and Vibration Research Centre (EVRC) is organising a two day workshop on “Vibration and Seismic Testing of Equipment” to share the professional experience of CPRI in seismic qualification by both analysis and shake table tests and for dissemination of knowledge. The workshop is organised mainly for engineers from power utilities, research establishments and engineering industries who are involved in the design of equipment and structures for Earthquakes. The workshop provides a unique forum for the students to learn how to apply the theoretical concepts & design methodologies combined with test techniques in practical situations and the teaching faculty to broaden their exposure to the State-of-the-art Test systems and simulation techniques.

Since the tangible benefits of integrating testing/ simulation techniques with the best design practices will go a long way in achieving economical, safe and engineered equipment and structures. The state-of-the-art test facilities including Triaxial shake table of EVRC will be demonstrated to the delegates in addition to the informative lectures by experts.

CANCELLATIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS:

Registration without payment does not confirm the reservation for the event. Request for cancellations must be received in writing, more than 7 working days before the workshop to get refund.
