Swami Vivekananda had envisioned the creation of a machinery to bring out the excellences inherent in human beings and use them for the welfare of the world. The Viveka Tirtha will be an attempt to actualize this cherished vision of Swamiji through the following programmes.

CENTRE foR ValuES EduCaTioNValues education, not only for youths and students but for people from various walks of life, will form an important activity of Viveka Tirtha. from hawkers and sweepers to iaS officers, lawyers, judges and vice-chancellors, all will be given training here. The purpose is to inculcate in them values such as truthfulness, control of greed and the spirit of service and sharing with others. Though the institution aims to reach out to all, its main focus will be on school and college students. To begin with, the Centre will start certificate and diploma courses. Eventually it will be brought within the ambit of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda university headquartered at Belur, thus enabling it to offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes as well.

CENTRE foR SKill-dEVElopMENTThe Centre will focus on development of personality and soft skills of both the youths and adults through a variety of methods like conducting skill-development courses, seminars and symposia, and programmes designed to develop concentration of mind (yoga), introspection and meditation.

ExHiBiTioN oN iNdiaN CulTuRal HERiTagEThe Centre will house a permanent exhibition where the glory of india’s cultural and spiritual heritage will be depicted through paintings and other visual modes, and also its relevance to modern times will be showcased. Conveying the life-giving universal message of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda will be the keynote of the exhibition.

ViVEKaNaNda RESEaRCH WiNgSerious study and research will be conducted on various aspects of indian cultural heritage, philosophy, social sciences, consciousness studies, Vedanta as applied to modern life, Swami Vivekananda’s ideas and their applications in the present age, modern science vis-à-vis ancient Vedantic wisdom.

puBliCaTioN diViSioNThis will bring out books and Cds in various languages for the edification of the youth to help them build up their character and discover their inner richness.

aCTiViTiES iN a NuTSHEllin brief, we aim to make Viveka Tirtha a vibrant place dedicated to “Nation Building” through “Man-Making”. Wholesome development of human beings, especially the youths who are the torchbearers of society, will constitute its principal activity. it is our firm belief that this Centre will grow to become a prime institution not only in West Bengal but in the entire india.

Being a charitable organization the Ramakrishna Mission depends substantially on donations from the generous public and financial support from the government for running its varied service activities. in particular, a project of this magnitude cannot be brought to fruition without active support from all quarters.

The size of the Viveka Tirtha project demands that the construction be carried out in phases. Nevertheless, the diversity of the services offered permits some to be started earlier and others after some time.

The Central and State governments have been actively helping us in this project. our special appeal is now to the country’s corporate sector because they are the direct beneficiaries of young people specially trained to pursue human excellence. Corporate sector’s clout is manifest in many of the Central government’s schemes like Swachchha Bharat Campaign, Make in india, Namami gange and many more through CSR funding.
