Both Rajae’s personality and her artistic path meet in the center of three foundations:

adventure, discipline and faith. At the age of four this young, Muslim woman was

found by the love we call music and they’ve been blossoming ever since. Four years

after she twirled her first pirouette, her taste in classical music encouraged her to

play the French horn and blow the soundtrack to her chronicles. At the age of 16 she

was the first North African to be admitted into the Dutch Conservatory and, with

founding Truthseeker Records at the age of 25, the first Muslim woman to start her

own record label.

BIOGRAPHY & ARTIST PROFILE

INCARNATION & HAND OF FATIMA

The genre of Rajae’s music is a crossover of pop, jazz, folk and soul with a soupçon of her North African Roots. Rajae's art comes alive, as a testament to a changing world yet re-mains steeped in the tonal colors of her North African heritage. She honors her Arabic musical identity by reinventing and blending her lyrics and melodies with music from the west. With her album Incarnation (2006) she made her first step towards her spot in a new Maghreb genre. Her second opus, Hand Of Fatima (2009), consumes the connectivity she made while travelling to record her first album. “If you are far”, one of the songs on the album, was written together with jazz icon Richard Bona, who has been one of Rajae’s mentors and supporters when she had just started to focus on singing and songwriting. The rest of the album was recorded in 2008/2009 and came about with producers who worked with icons such as Barbara Streisand, Aaliyah, Ziggy Marley and 2Pac.

MUSLIMA EXHIBITION, 4 COUNTRIES, 4 MUSEUMSRajae ‘s work has been selected for a groundbreaking international group exhibition titled MUSLIMA. This exhibition is a collaboration between 4 museums in the world: Women's Museum in Århus, Denmark; Ayala Museum in Makati City in the Philippines; Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization in Sharjah in The United Arabic Emirates; and IMOW/ International Museum Of Women in San Francisco, USA. The MUSLIMA exhibi-tion will showcase the work of 60 Muslim female artists and thinkers, with a diversity of backgrounds and opinions. Rajae is the only participant selected from The Netherlands, Morocco & Algeria.

RELEASE SINGLE, VIDEO, FILM, EXHIBITION

Rajae’s new single, video and short doc film will be released on March 8th 2013, on international women's day. Rajae’s third album will be released later in 2013 and she is developing her second short film, to be recorded next year in Morocco.

MUSLIM 500: 2009 - 2012In November 2012, Rajae was nominated on the Muslim 500 list, for the fourth year in a row. She is the only female contemporary singer to appear on the Arts and Culture section list of the 500 most influential Muslims in the world. On this list, published by an institute in Amman, Jordan and Washington, she’s in the company of artists like Yusuf Islam, Maher Zain, Sharukh Khan, Mos Def, Youssou N'Dour, Salif Keita & Dave Chapelle. FILM DEBUT, HOLLYWOOD & TEXAS

In September 2012 Rajae wrote and filmed her first short doc film titled: ¡HOPE! with the help of director Lars Siemens and a wonderful artistic team. The film speaks about the transformation of emotions & identity, but also about the acceptance of Muslim women in the music industry and performing arts and reactions to their public presence in the world. After finishing the film recordings, Rajae spent one month in Texas and Hollywood, where she recorded a new single and music video titled 'Gracefully'.

Rajae performs in small and larger settings, from acoustic, to band, to ensemble, to orchestra. We are flexbile and create the best bandsetting for each venue and event.

Rajae works with a small core team who love good quality music. Unique music arrangements are made for all different settings. We also love multi-media. In our team we have directors,

photographers, cinematographers and VJ’s, who’s talent can be included to shows.

SCREENINGS FILMRajae’s short doc film ¡HOPE! will travel to international filmfestivals and other venues who want to screen the film. If you would also like to screen the film,
