STAFF TRAINING

• 18 staff trained with Sandra

• A further 25 staff trained in-house

• All library supervisors cascaded the training to staff who were unable to attend an official training session

• Training also delivered to adult learning workers

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

• Copies of Sandra’s presentation and ‘roller’ on CD have been made and distributed to all libraries

• Roller displayed on a public PC in each library to attract users’ attention

• Presentation used with a local history group at Broughty Ferry community library

• Scran posters displayed in all libraries

THE LIBRARY POST

• Monthly Email newsletter highlighting what is happening / what’s new in our libraries

• Started in February 2005

• 143 subscribers (not just library members!) as of May 2005

• The Scran website and Scran ALW events have been advertised in the ‘Library Post’

ADULT LEARNERS’ WEEK

• Scran drop-in ‘taster’ sessions at many of our libraries

• One session particularly focusing on how Scran can help with local history research

• Quiz sheets used on ‘information days’ for people to try at coffee break

• Enquiries to Local History Centre– calendar of Dundee goldsmith found on

Scran– visiting academic used Scran to see holdings

at Dundee University on Indian jute trade

• Enquiry to Community Library - child’s homework project on Robert Burns
