Racial Literacy Group For Helping Professionals The Racial Literacy Group #4 is a process group that engages helping professions to become more attuned to complex racial dynamics. Racism is a structural arrangement intended to maintain the power of white supremacy. It is reinforced by interpersonal and intrapsychic racist ideology that we have all internalized to some degree. Internalized racial oppression, radicalized sexual fantasies, racial identity concerns, colorism, and privilege corrupt our interpersonal connections. We stand on the shoulders of organizers grounded in the principles of the Peoples Institute for Survival and Beyond., the Anti-Racist Alliance, and The Grassroots Reparations Campaign. We incorporate our learning experiences from these organizations and from our Racial Literacy Consultation Groups and Whiteness Learning Groups to provide helping professionals opportunities to examine how we collude with or resist racism in our work and our lives. We will share, experience, and dissect racial dilemmas in order to become more skillful at interrupting bias and white-centeredness. The Racial Literacy Group #4 is an open-ended group that will meet bi-weekly for eight months each year and continue the following year on Fridays from 2-3:30pm Dates for 2020-2021: Sept 18; Oct 2, 16, 30; Nov 13, 27; Dec 11, 18; Jan 8, 22; Feb 5, 19; Mar 5, 19; April 2, 16, 30;May 14 Where: on Zoom Fee: $85/session white-identi^ied participants $50/session black-identi^ied and other people of color Our differentiated fees re^lect our commitment to address historical racial inequity for services.
