RACE TIMETABLE:
Stage Headquarters: Gwernyfed Leisure Centre
Post Code: LD3 0SG
HQ Opens: 9:00 a.m. Signing-on Start: 9:15 a.m.
Officials’ Briefing: 10:00 a.m. – inside Race HQ Signing-on End: 10:15 a.m.
Riders’ Briefing: 10:20 a.m. – inside Race HQ Race Start Time: 10:30 a.m.
Start Location: Assemble in HQ Car Park
Prize Presentation: 2:30 p.m. at Race Headquarters
RIDERS’ NOTES:
1. Race distance: 67.2 miles, 107.9 km. Neutralised Zone 2.5 miles, 4.0 km.
2. Junior riders must comply with the Junior Gear Limit specified by British Cycling Regulations. The limit is 7.93 metres per crank revolution – normally 52 x 14 (although tyre/wheel size can affect this). There will be a gear check for all riders, immediately outside the race HQ, which you MUST pass BEFORE signing-on.
3. All competitors must wear a hard helmet that meets the British standard.
4. The race will be supported by Neutral Service. All riders with Odd Numbers please supply front wheels, and Even Numbers, rear wheels. Please hand over wheels when signing on. PLEASE NOTE: The race organisation will take reasonable steps to ensure that wheels are returned to the owners after the race, but due to the nature of the events during a cycle race, riders submitting wheels for use by Neutral Service are doing so at their own risk. The race organisation accepts no responsibility for, and will not be held liable for, any losses or damage that may occur.
5. The designated Feed Zone is located at the bottom of the main climb on the course. There are two large lay-bys on the A4079, close to the roundabout at the base of the climb: see the parking area marked on the course map. Please feed riders for a couple of hundred metres after the roundabout only. No feeding at other points on the course is allowed – there is no other suitable area – riders who do so will incur a penalty.
6. Parents / Team Managers / Spectators: please park with consideration for the safe progress of the race, where indicated on the course map and do NOT attempt to park in the feed zone on the climb or at the Finish area where space for cars is limited. Please park with care to allow access for all who wish to use the area.
7. Protection for the riders and convoy is provided by motor cycle marshals and a team of static marshals. The moto-marshals cover one point on the course, then when the race has passed, move on to the next point on the course where they are needed to offer protection to the race. Please ensure that you keep to the left-hand side of the road to allow the moto-marshals to pass the peloton. PLEASE NOTE: Safety cover for riders to race is limited to when you are between the first lead car and the final vehicle in the race convoy – normally the First Aid vehicle. If you are dropped from the bunch and fall behind the First Aid vehicle you are no longer in the zone of safety cover provided by the race marshals. You cannot assume that marshals will be present at turns or junctions to indicate the way or stop traffic. It is your responsibility to follow the race route exactly. You must follow the normal rules of the road, follow the Highway Code and respect other road users when you are outside the protection of the race.

About Cadence Cycle Racing:
Cadence Cycle Racing is a Cycling Club set up by members of existing Welsh clubs as a vehicle to promote new and different Cycle Races. The aims include:
• To promote races that most single, existing clubs would not normally promote - due to factors such
as scale or location • To fill gaps in the racing calendar (types of event, not chronology) • To develop new courses in Wales • To develop new officials, organisers, marshals (especially younger people) • To seek to involve people from as many existing cycling clubs as possible • To develop a team that can resource the key elements of a race located anywhere in Wales
(race promotion not limited by location) • To innovate / try new ideas for the benefit of Cycle racing in Wales • To promote great events and to have fun while doing so.
Members are expected to remain members of their existing club and to continue to support their own club’s events. Our next promotion in 2016 is the UK Junior Road Race Championships in Chepstow on 12th June followed by the unique and highly popular 5-day stage race for 2/3/4 cats: the Ras De Cymru in late June / early July. If you are interested in what we are trying to do and want to know more, please speak to one of the race officials.
