SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE

Knowledge in product development cycle and manufacturing process. 10 plus years experience in supporting customers in DC-DC switch-mode power supply design and

development and solving multidisciplinary engineering fields involved in analog design, IGBT, MOSFET, and power electronics ICs using optoelectronics for isolation and feedback.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

01/2007 – 5/2016 California Eastern Laboratories - CEL, Santa Clara, CAStaff Application Engineer for Interface IC (SerDes), RF MEMs Relays, OC MOSFET and photocoupler products

Provided on-site technical training, web training, & support to customers and sales channel partnerso Solved optoelectronics technical issue at Leviton for battery charging system,

Rockwell Automations for motor driver, Cisco for power supplies used in data center, and GE Communications to avert “line-down” situation at their mfg facility in China that saved the business and enabled CEL to maintain the business.

o Collaborated with distributor partners (i.e., Digikey and Future), and Sales Reps (i.e., Stan Clothier, Disman Bakner, Rep One, Anchor Engineering, and TMC)

Worked with Texas Instruments/National Semiconductor, Freescale, On Semi, Maxim, and other ICs vendors for SWPS and PoE application notes and reference designs using photo-couplers for isolation, feedback, and I2C communications and SerDes products used in HDTV, i.e. 1080P, 4K LCD display panels, camera modules and ADAS.

Generated 16 the most comprehensive and practical optocoupler applications as an electronics cookbook to address any technical design questions to support isolated SWPS power supply designs, such as, synchronous fly-back converters and medium to high power 3-phase DC motor applications required isolation.

Studied competitors products, market trends, and worked with customers to define new product roadmaps.

06/2006 – 01/2007 LedEngin Inc., Santa Clara, CA LED Technical Marketing Manager

Performed LED thermal data and generated high-brightness LED Thermal Management app. note, generated 3W, 5W, and 10W RGB and White high-brightness LED data sheets, and product summary for website.

Worked with LED die vendors, such as Cree, Semi-Photonics to secure GaN die supply. Visited strategic customers to secure orders and assisted customers in design and development and got

the first design win for the company. Worked with Sales Rep firms to establish sales and distribution channels for NAFTA and European

markets.

1999 –06/2006 OSRAM –OPTO SEMICONDUCTORS INC. (FORMELY KNOWN AS SIEMENS MICROELECTRONICS) SAN JOSE, CA

IR Application Engineering / Marketing Manager

Worked with IC vendors, National Semiconductor and Supertex, to develop infrared drivers operating at high current and high data rate. Target applications in IR illumination or data transmission. Generated application notes and evaluation boards to assist customers to using high power IRED light source in their products.

Worked with optics vendors to provide secondary optical solutions for IR sources. Designed and developed Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) product concept and prototype boards using III V

materials for feasibility study and as a tool to support customers in the design and development phase. Provided reference design to use ALS for LCD back lighting

1997 – 1999 INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES, SAN JOSE, CA Infrared Data Transceiver (IRDT) Engineering Manager

Organized the IrDT department, and Managed an engineering team for design, development, characterization, and production of IrDT devices, such as, IRM6115 (Slow IR, i.e., 115kbps), IRM6100 (Medium IR,i.e., 1.152Mbps), and IRM6400 (Fast IR, i.e., 4Mbps) in transfer molding process and IRM5000 (SIR) in PCB cast process.

Interfaced with PDA / Notebook / desktop PC customers to tackle technical issues, generated new business, and presented technical information and road maps to domestic and worldwide customers.

Provided technical assistance to factory in Penang, Malaysia in prototype and production phases of a new IrDT product line.

1993 – 1997 SIEMENS OPTOELECTRONICS DIVISION, CUPERTINO, CAIntelligent Display (ID) Project Manager

Designed and developed new intelligent display LED products used in Motorola cellular phone, such as, StarTec phones.

Generated annual sale of $35 millions in the ID business. Obtained a design pattern of 21 dot matrix LED display, as a result, generated a new business with

annual sale of $7 million.

1990 - 1992 DIGITAL MICROWAVE CORP., SAN JOSE, CASenior Product Engineer

Performed designed qualification validation test on newly-designed MSK modems and RF units. Developed MSK modem, RF power amplifier, and radio system test procedures for production testing. Oversaw the testing and debugging of MSK 18M/23M radios and digital PLL.
