over 35 years combined experience, they shop their multiple carriers for the best policy and price, excelling in customer service. Schoppe Insurance is an independent, multi -line, insurance agency that shops various markets to get its client the best rate out there.

Calvin Schoppe retired from a captive agency here in Rockport after seven years. He started an independent agency in Victoria in 2010. Calvin started with a very small list of clientele who followed him after his retirement. He soon opened up an office in Sargent, TX where he has one agent and secretary. In 2013, Calvin closed his Victoria location to open up an office in Rockport which would be managed by former colleague of four years, Christina Hynes. He hired agent Paula Dromgoole and secretary Alicia Plilbert in 2016. Calvin will open a third location later this year in Yorktown, which will be managed by Paula.

any time we can talk with them to discuss the needs of those in Aransas County.

March is our month to start the budget process. We begin with the Marketing Workshop to determine plans and amounts of advertising programs, activities and awareness. I look forward to the coming quarter of April, May and June where I throw the ceremonial pitch at the Hooks game, emcee my last Chamber luncheon in May where we feature everything tourism and lastly, the Changing of the Gavel Banquet where I turn the duties over to our chairman-elect Betty Hattman. It has been a year of great experiences. What is neat about this Chamber is you work hard but you have fun at the same time. Join in... we'd love to have you!

Highlights............................Continued from page 1travelers are staying overnight at our hotels.

Live TV appearances were a big part of the first quarter as Sandy and myself and people from the community were featured to tell about our wonderful community. It is working as we are seeing the numbers from Houston and Austin and our, of course, the predominant market - San Antonio is still staying strong. We give thanks to all those helping with the live New Braunfels radio show "What's rockin in Rockport-Fulton." We then push all that out to Social Media and extend that reach even more.

Network Wednesdays have been a great addition to the Chamber programming. I can't believe how much I have learned in that 30-minute session. Each person has one minute to talk about their business. Thank you to Ty Helgenberger for bringing that concept to us. It is working!

Each month the staff lists the top five highlights and accomplishments for the month. Take a look at the story highlighting their accomplishments starting on page 2. Great job everyone! We are so proud of the work you do!
