RAHWAY ACADEMY Our take on “Project STEAM” 8 th grade Art Cycle students, spend approximately 5 weeks designing, and building their own guitars. Our students learn how sound reaches our ears and how guitars make sound. They then watch a short video that explains how real acoustic guitars are made. Students then learn how to safely use hot glue guns and x-acto knives, and cardboard that has been recycled from what our school throws away on a daily basis, they then construct a functioning acoustic guitar of their own design! Please enjoy some of the pictures from my class! Jenn Swisstack (Art Teacher)

Students learn how to Use cutting tools..

And VIOLA! We Create guitars

Our guitars take many shapes and designs….

..there’s even double guitars…

The best part about this project was that out of the entire 8th grade class of about 275 students, each guitar was like a

fingerprint, each one was unique to that student!
