    The remaining four units may be takenfrom a wide range of Faculty of Educationunits in other Faculty of Educationcourses including Bachelor of Education(Secondary)ED90, Bachelor of Education(Primary)ED91, Bachelor of Education(Early Childhood)ED92, Bachelor ofEducation (Preservice EarlyChildhood)ED93, and the GraduateDiploma in Education ED38 (butexcluding the Primary pathway in theGraduate Diploma), OR from facultiesother than the Faculty of Education.

    Please note that units from the Master ofEducation cannot be studied in thiscourse.

    Students must follow the individual courserules concerning prerequisite study whenselecting units from other courses andshould note that practicum or field studiesunits may not be undertaken in the B Ed(Inservice) course.

    Literacy modules have been developedas a remedial action for students who donot attain satisfactory standards on therelevant literacy criterion during theirassessment in the first year of theirstudies. Students will have the support ofthe First Year Experience Coordinator.Students may attempt these modules anynumber of times during the first threeyears of their program.

    At the end of year three, unsatisfactoryresults within course work and thesemodules may result in a recommendationfor an early exit from the four-yeardegree. The literacy requirement will alsoapply to double degree students with aslight variation.

    Course StructureThe Bachelor of Adult Education andTraining is a four-year undergraduatedegree program. On entry students aregranted 192 credit points or two yearscredit as recognition of prior knowledge,experience and skills. The remaining twoyears full-time or four years part-timefocuses on adult and community learning.The development of a professionalportfolio throughout the degree enablesstudents to individualise their ownprogram to suit their professionaldevelopment needs.

    Domestic Entry requirementsLiteracy course requirementsAll Bachelor of Education students arerequired to satisfactorily completeassessment criteria relating toQueensland College of Teachers' (QCT)literacy standards by the end of year threeof their course in order to meet the courseand QCT professional accreditationrequirements.

    Literacy modules have been developedas a remedial action for students who donot attain satisfactory standards on therelevant literacy criterion during theirassessment in the first year of theirstudies. Students will have the support ofthe First Year Experience Coordinator.Students may attempt these modules anynumber of times during the first threeyears of their program.

    At the end of year three, unsatisfactoryresults within course work and thesemodules may result in a recommendationfor an early exit from the four-yeardegree. The literacy requirement will alsoapply to double degree students with aslight variation.

    Working with Children Check:blue cardA Blue Card is required as you will beworking with children and young peopleas part of this course. You can apply for aBlue Card through QUT at no cost.
