Introduction Coding and Marking business is one of the fastest growing businesses in the packaging

industry. Being a distributor of Coding machines, it is important to know how to get the

maximum profit out of this business. Selling Coding machines is a one time sale but each

Coding machines consumes Ink regularly, so the main profit comes from Ink sales. An

incremental sale of printers therefore, is very important. The printers can be utilized on any

products and can be set on any production line. For that reason the distributor needs to

participate in trade shows from several different industries. The sales staff needs to do colder

calling, and the technical support has to be strong enough to set the printer on any application.

Simultaneously, the distributor needs to focus on more ink consuming applications also, the

application with large number of prints, and more production lines. There should be more

attention given to those customers. After sales service needs to be prompt and break down calls

needs to be attended immediately. Customer’s production should not be held due to printer’s

failure.

What is CIJ? 1. CIJ is Continuous Ink jet Technology 2. Printing character in basic 5 X 7 drop matrix, 3. Print Height from 1mm to 10 mm 4. Maximum 4 line printing 5. Consist of Gear Pump or Hydraulic Ink System 6. Requires Filter replacement after regular interval of usage time. 7. CIJ built with many complicated Electrical, Mechanical and Electronic components. 8. Need to keep inventory for so many costly spares. 9. Needs to keep stock of three different consumable like Ink, makeup and wash

Solution. 10. Each Ink type has its designated type of makeup and Wash Solution. Different types

of Ink and Makeup cannot be interchanged in use.

What is DOD? 1. DOD is Drop on demand technology. ProDigit printers use High Resolution

DOD printing technology. 2. Print Height available from 1mm to 106mm. 3. ProDigit DOD printers can print any number of lines as per the real Image transferred

from PC using Flexi code and Remote Manager Software. 4. Can print real pictures, variable information and Logos. 5. Very simple Ink System, no requirement for Gear pumps or hydraulic systems. 6. Ink system jets the ink drops by using ”Meniscus” technology. The Ink cartridges

surface tension creates curved upper surface of ink in the tube. 7. Using Ink cartridges only, no makeup. 8. Wash solvent is compatible with all type of ink.

10 Installation of EggsPrint

a. Assemble the conveyer with legs and assemble the EggsPrint. b. Mount the EggsPrint on side plate mountings on conveyer. c. Assemble the vacuum system on conveyer. d. Assemble the six print modules on the eggs printer. e. Connect the Ink tubes from each print module to ink valve on ink system. f. Mount the ProDigit controller on EggsPrint machine mountings. g. Connect the Print Module cables 2 to 6 to controller at PM1connector and PM2

connector. h. Connect the electrical connection for conveyer motor, vacuum and EggsPrint. i. Place the egg tray under the print modules and adjust the height of all six print

modules to keep the distance between 1 to 2 mm from the eggs. j. Adjust the hooked spring tension on all six print module arms. k. Connect the Print sensor on sensor mounting. Fix the mounting at such an angle

where it senses the egg tray side edge for one print signal only. l. Insert the two Ink cartridges in the Ink system. m. Prime the ink in each print module respectively as per user guide. Open the

respective ink valve only, and keep other valves closed while priming the print module.

n. Prime all six print modules. o. Each ink cartridge is connected to the ink system for 3 print modules

respectively. p. Switch ON the controller, and set the parameters for EggsPrint. q. Go to Print parameters and set the line speed, First print delay, set 5 prints per

each sensor signal, Set delay between prints. r. Print any message on eggs tray and check the print location on all eggs. s. Adjust each print parameter to get the print on centre of eggs. t. Vacuum system can be used to clear nozzles on the print module front face.

11 Trouble Shooting Fault Poor Print or Scattered Print quality

Cause Air bubbles in the ink line or print module or nozzles are clogged with dry ink or debris.

Solution Keep on using printer daily or test print once in three days. If it is ideal for long time, then

nozzles may get clogged because of ink drying.

- Prime the ink by squeezing the ink bag, this will drain all the air bubbles out from the print

head, and can clear some missing nozzles.

- Still all nozzles are not printing then connect empty cyringe to the print head.

- Eject all ink from the print module with air.

- Flush the solvent through print head using syringe. Than empty the solvent also from the print

head with air.

- Prime the ink again by squeezing the ink bag gently, this will get fresh ink to the print head,

and proper priming will eliminate air bubbles from the ink line also.

- Take the test print.

- If the print head is clogged heavily then it needs to be removed from the print module and left

soaking in solvent overnight. If still blocked it may require ultrasonic cleaning and can be

connected to oil cartridge also.

12 Printer Storage Procedure Why and when storage procedure is

required

- When printer is not going to be used for more than 2 weeks then it needs to be correctly stored to maintain print performance.

- Empty ink from print module by using empty cyringe with air. - Flush with solvent. Then empty the solvent also from the print head with air. - Fill the print module with storage oil . - Cap the print module
