This user guide is for users connecting their iPad to a Macintosh computer or laptop. This user guide
covers how to set up your iPad to connect to your campus desktop computer or laptop using the Junos Pulse app
and the iTap VNC app.

BEFORE YOU START
Download the Junos Pulse app from the iTunes App Store. (This is a free app.)
Download the iTap VNC app (for Mac users). This app was gifted to you when you went to iPad
orientation. If you do not have the app or the email with the app code, contact the Help Desk at x7777 or

Set Up Your Mac Desktop Computer/Laptop
Before you set up your iPad, you
will need to enable your desktop
computer or laptop to allow remote
connections.
Step 1:
From the Apple menu, select
System Preferences.

Step 2:
Under Internet & Network, select
Sharing.
Step 3:
On the left, select Remote
Management (it should already be
checked).
Then click on Computer Settings.

Step 4:
Place a check mark next to VNC
viewers may control screen with
password.
Enter a password that users will
need to enter to control the screen.
Click OK.
Step 5:
Click the left arrow to return to the
System Preferences screen.

Step 6:
Click Network.
Step 7:
Select Ethernet from the left menu.
In the middle of the screen you will
see your Mac’s IP address. Write
down the IP Address as you will
need it later in the setup process.
Please note that IP
addresses are dynamic and may
change.

Step 1:
Tap Junos Pulse ( ).

Tap Configuration.
Step 3:
Tap Add new configuration.

Step 4:
Type in the VPN settings:
Name: CSUF VPN
URL:
https://csufvpns.fullerton.edu
Then tap Save.
Step 5:
Tap Connect.

Step 6:
Type in your CSUF username and
password.
The Realm should be set to
Faculty/Staff.
Tap Sign In.
It may take a few minutes for
the VPN to connect.

Step 7:
Once your VPN is connected, you
will see a notification at the bottom
of the Junos Pulse page.
You will also see a VPN icon ( )
in your status bar at the top left
corner of your iPad screen.
Press the Home button to go back
to your home screen. Junos Pulse
will continue running in the
background.

Tap iTap VNC.

Step 8a:
If you see this welcome message,
tap Done.
Step 9:
Tap Add Manual Bookmark.

Step 10:
Tap Label.
Step 11:
Type in a name for your connection.
It is recommended that you
enter something such as “My CSUF
Mac” to differentiate it from any
other computers you may want to
connect to.
Tap Save.
Step 12:
Tap Host.

Step 13:
Type in the IP address of your Mac.
This is the IP address you located
on page 4 of this guide.
Tap Save.
Step 14:
Tap Credentials.
Step 15:
Enter your VNC password (set on
page 3 of this guide) and your
username.
The username should be the
one you use to log on to the Mac.
Tap Save.

Step 16:
Tap Save.
Step 17:
Tap on the bookmark you just
created under the Bookmarks menu
on the left.
Tap Connect on the right.

Step 18:
Type your campus login and
password.
Tap Logon.
Step 19:
Your desktop appears.
To disconnect, press the Home
button.
Step 20:
From the home screen, press the
Home button twice quickly to bring
up the multitasking bar.

Step 21:
Tap and hold one of the open apps
until the iPad is in edit mode.
Tap the close icon ( ) next to
iTap VNC to close the app.
Step 22:
Press the Home button to exit edit
mode.
Tap Junos Pulse.

Tap Disconnect to disconnect from
