LT Ball Intermediate students are proud participants of the democratic process. The fourth and fifth graders voted in their first “election.” The students have been studying the branches of government, researching the candidates and learning about the election process before casting their votes in a mock election. As students voted throughout the day, they evaluated data and compared the results with each other and with schools across the country.

A group of volunteers wants to convert an unkempt courtyard at Tippecanoe Middle School into a more attractive, inviting, usable space. An amazing group of volunteers cleared the brush, filled the dump truck, and hauled it away. Thank you to all who showed up to help including Tippecanoe High School bowling coach John Janney and his team. Thank you to Chuck and Rachel Lemp for the use of their truck and wheelbarrows. The group will continue cleaning the area, hauling out any debris, and grading the courtyard.

Even with computers, iPads, chrome books and other electronic gadgets, young students still love story time. It is even better for the Nevin Coppock first graders when the story is read to you by a special guest. Thank you Tippecanoe Middle School teacher Emma McKenzie for bridging your students with the younger children.

Members of the Tippecanoe High School Senior Spirit Squad

are true Super Heroes in the eyes of the district’s

kindergarten and first grade students. The Super Heroes

visited Nevin Coppock’s classrooms, high-fived students,

and read stories. It is amazing how much young children

adore teenagers and look up to them. The shear joy in their

faces and awe in their eyes affirm that connection. And,

such a visit was a bit more special for the Nevin teachers

who reconnected with their former students. In the top left

The Homebuilding class at Tippecanoe High School is building a “Tiny House”. Tiny Houses have become more and more popular in the past couple of years. Simply put, they are very small houses that are no more than a few hundred square feet in many cases and often built on a trailer so that they can be towed. The class is accepting “in-kind” donations of any building materials needed for the construction project. Remnants of supplies or materials that are no longer being used or are too small in terms of quantities to use in a normal house or room remodel are ideal. Please email James Kitchen at [email protected] if you are able to assist.

LT Ball Intermediate’s lunch menu took a step back in time with Throw Back Thursday Lunches, good old fashioned school lunches made with all the Healthy Action for Kids regulations in place and still just as good as days gone by! The first Throw Back Thursday Lunch included meatloaf, mashed potatoes, creamy cole slaw, applesauce and a beverage. Kitchen Manager Tammy Green and her staff like to organize and prepare special days for students and staff. They say it is a great way to offer variety, promote nutrition, and encourage participation in the school lunch program. November’s menu includes a Thanksgiving feast.
