    7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in theprogression from it to the full product?

    The Office and Submerged

From the first typography in our preliminary we learnt

that it is very important in order to convey the genre

of the film. For example in the office it came as an

afterthought whereas, Submerged is used to convey

a drowning sequence the positioning and unaligned

lettering reinforced the sinister aspect, much like

    scream for exam le.

In both sequences we used match on action in order to

create varied shot types, and demonstrate further

movement. However with the preliminary we had to

cut much of it out as there was not enough variation,

therefore in Submerged we used short quick clips.

    We suffered a few issues incorporating a two shot;

therefore we placed heavy focus on the positioning of

the camera in order to make the two shot effective.

We had the actors closer together and also placed the

camera closer in order to see reactions etc. we used an

exterior shot, avoiding too much distraction and detail,

    which we did in theoffice.

We found that the over the shoulder shot worked

quite well for us however there was a few

adjustments needed for example, we would be

focus more on the actor taking out setting. We also

positioned the camera behind most of Megans

head, keeping Lauren in the thirds of the image.

We challenged the conventions from our original

argument scene since our antagonist Lauren was a

female and Megan the victim was not portrayed in

this way, we done this through the appearance and

disappearance of Lauren. Furthermore we used

naturalistic daylight outside as we felt it easier to

manoeuvre and it was not so confined in comparison to

    the Office.

IMovie enabled us to crop and ken burns

changes that w3e needed to make however, thissometimes made our reaction shots look

distorted therefore we used more close ups on

the actors enabling us to insert reaction shots

and this is what we placed a focus on in the

    variation of shot types.

    7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in theprogression from it to the full product?

We learnt very quickly that there would be a high

possibility of having to re-film, therefore we decided

on a location that would be easily accessible for

everybody, where we could return to multiple times.

Although the location we chose in the preliminary

was a success it, took time to get to and was not

direct enough for everyone involved, therefore we

decided on anequally busy setting locally.

During the editing process we aimed for a more

professional outcome, therefore moving on from

IMovie to Final Cut was a big change in the

production process as we had to learn how to use

the software. We were able to enhance andcontrol sound and image layering it over. This also

helped in the professional finish of the typography

As previously mentions our biggest disappointment

in our preliminary was the sound and voice overs.

Therefore to make sure that we had music

underplaying the action throughout we created our

own piece on Audacity. Nonetheless we did enhance

our knowledge of Garage Band therefore were able

to use it on a wider level making white noise and

    voice overs throughout.
