Video camera

• In order to make our music video we needed to record footage, the device we used to do this was a video camera. The video camera had a higher quality than regular phone cameras so the footage had a decent quality. Only when lighting was bad we found that recording footage was hard but we worked round this by filming at times were there was plenty of light

Music video

• The software we used to edit our music video was Adobe Premiere. With this software we done may things such as use video transitions, capture footage, time remapping, chroma key, create borders, project manage and use title sequences. During our production of the music video we have become more proficient and sophisticated in using the software.

Video transitions

• The three main video transitions we used were cross dissolve, dip to black and dip to white. On occasions were we felt as though we needed a real quick e.g. In the montage, we thought we should use a normal cut. The reason why we stuck to the three transitions mentioned above is that they are the only ones that do not draw attention to do the editing.

Time remapping

• This is another tool on Adobe premiere that we used alot. This tool allows you to get the lip syncing in time by slowing or speeding up footage. This was useful as it made sure that the song and footage were matching, if we did not lip sync properly then the quality of our music video would have been seriously have been reduced.

Capturing footage

• We captured footage in two ways, the first method was to use a firewire and transfer footage from the handheld video camera. The second and much more quicker method we used later on was to transfer the footage onto a cd and then copy it on to the sequence.

Chroma key

• The Chroma key allowed us to change the background on the green screen footage. This was also useful as it allowed us to change the colour of the background behind the artist during the performance shots. Without this tool on adobe premiere we would have found it difficult touse green screen footage.

Create borders

• The borders gave our music video a professional look, as without them we felt our music video did not look right.

Project Manage

• This was a very useful tool for our group as it allowed us to save all the files linked with our music project in the same place. This ensures that our work does not get lost or damaged. We were advised to do this at the beginning and end of our music video for prcausionary reasons.

Title sequences

• On adobe premiere there was also a tool which allowed us to create and display text on our music video. We used it twice once in the intro and the second time as an ending. We used this because it is conventional of the RnB genre.

Lighting

• We used the lighting effects to help make footage that was either too dark or bright have a better picture. This meant that we did not have to re-film every piece of footage that did not work properly.

Page 13: Question 4 evaluation

Razor tool

• We used this tool to cut up the footage we were looking to work with. This was helpful as it meant we could select the specific footage we wanted to manipulate e.g. delete or add an edit to.

Photoshop

• This was the software we used for our ancillary tasks. My role in the production of the ancillary tasks was to make the CD back cover and an inlay card. Photoshop helped me immensely in the production of my part in the ancillary task. On Photoshop I was able to do many things that helped me improve my ancillary work.

Change background

• On Photoshop I was able to change background of my cd back cover to black. This was important as it allowed me to decide the colours of my back cd back cover.

Adding glows and outlines

• On Photoshop I was able to add glows and outlines to images and texts. This made the cd back cover look more stylish and not so basic. This was important as I wanted the CD back cover to look like a real cd back cover.

Adding blurs

• This is was what I added to the picuture to make it look more creative and artistic. On the front of the CD cover we also added a blur so there is a link between the front and back cd cover. This was done in the filter gallery.

Technologies used for research and planning

Slide boom: a online website that allowed me to upload PowerPoint. This was especially helpful for me when uploading my questionnaire.

Camera: During research and planning stages we were recquired to take pictures as proof of work. For this we used a camera, this helped us with our research and planning.

YouTube

• I used YouTube for two main purposes which were to upload videos and to also show the video I was analysing during research and planning stages. The two videos I uploaded on to my blog was the Voxpox and actual music video. Without Youtube I would have found it much more difficult to upload footage.

Blogger

• This is a blogging website that we used to present our work. It was useful as it allowed us to upload images, videos, presentations and audio clips. It would have been very hard for me to display my work digitally. Another advantage of blogger is it means your work can not be damaged or lost as it is stored and backed up digitally.
