Question 2How effective is the combination of your

main product and ancillary texts?

How coherent do you think your media products are?

Colour I believe that my main product and ancillary texts are coherent with each other.

The colours I used in my ancillary texts and music video are very different. In my ancillary texts I used burgundy colours and sepia tones and gave the texts an aged feel by using textures on top of my original photographs.

Colour I used the html colour code #67190C for my digipak and magazine advert this was to make sure that I had the same colour being used across all the texts to create a house style. However, I had to fade some of the frames behind the text therefore the colour changed. I also had to change the original html code on some of the texts, for example the song titles, because it was difficult to view.

ColourHowever, In my music video we increased the contrast and used the equalize tool in Adobe Premiere Pro which made the colours appear abnormal and even psychedelic. This breaks the house style I originally created in my digipak and magazine advert.

Font type For my digipak and magazine advert I used the sans font called ‘Steak’ on the

online editing website, picnik.com. I used it for the title of the band and album , the text ‘Alex Moore’ and song titles for both texts to continue the house style.

For the information on the back of the digipak I used font type Times New Roman as it’s clear and easy to read. I used Franklin Gothic Medium for the titles on the spine as I found this was also easy to read.

Posture/ProxemicsDespite the music video having a different visual theme to my ancillary texts the posture and proxemics of the band make up for the loss of coherence. The attitude the band member’s give off is that of a stereotypical rock band member, a hard faced and not caring attitude. They all have a ‘cool’ look about them in the video with the exception of Giorgio (the drummer) who is smiling whilst playing the drums which I think ruins the look of the band.

Props/CostumeThe band wear stereotypical clothes that a rock fan/rock band member would wear, for example rock band memorabilia such as T-shirts, denim/leather jackets and sun glasses. The video also includes the bands instruments and amps.
