Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan and Energy Efficiency

    Operational Indicator

The 3hip Energy Efficiency 4anagement 5lan (3EE45) is an operational measure thatesta&lishes a mechanism to improve the energy efficiency of a ship in a cost effectivemanner. The 3EE45 also provides an approach for shipping companies to manage shipand fleet efficiency performance over time using% for e'ample% the Energy Efficiency

+perational Indicator (EE+I) as a monitoring tool. The guidance on the development ofthe 3EE45 for new and e'isting ships incorporates &est practices for fuel efficient shipoperation% as well as guidelines for voluntary use of the EE+I for new and e'isting ships(4E5*. 6*irc.789 ). The EE+I ena&les operators to measure the fuel efficiency of a shipin operation and to gauge the effect of any changes in operation% e.g. improved voyageplanning or more frequent propeller cleaning% or introduction of technical measures suchas waste heat recovery systems or a new propeller. The 3EE45 urges the ship ownerand operator at each stage of the plan to consider new technologies and practices whensee ing to optimise the performance of a ship
