In our recently held “Change Leaders in Investment Management Forum” there were also several key Mega trends affecting the way the industry is shaped moving forward: -Demographics- Impact and Challenges of an aging population-Social values, behaviour and ethics- Internet influencing our decisions and perceptions. -Technology- The fastest growing companies in the world today are either technology enabled, or technology innovators. There doesn’t seem to be a technological innovator amongst the investment management industry. -Environment- Disaster recovery, Risk management and resource planning of renewableDigital Economy – Investment in the digital channels available to the facebook generation.
Q3 Saw a large shift in looking at ways to market within the digital space with firms like Nutmeg Securing Funding from firms like Schroders. Investors want to track their portfolios day and night on handheld devices bringing new challenges to the traditional way of managing money on behalf of the average consumer.Asset Managers are in the process of shifting the way they do business to try and keep up with the so called Facebook generation who are starting to form a large part of investment flow with low interest rates continuing to put off savers.
