Quality control activities monitor and verify thatproject deliverables meet defined quality standards.
Quality assurance activities monitor and verify that
the processes used to manage and create thedeliverables are followed and are effective.

project
State the quality objectives in terms of the projectobjectives and/or organizational objectives.
Determine quality objectives for the product with thecustomer.
There may be overall organizational qualityobjectives or policies that the project can reference.

The key deliverables are the results that need to bedelivered fit-for-purpose as identified in the project

2.Identify the standards that will be used to evaluate thequality of project deliverables
Identify the relevant deliverable quality standards, or“measures” used to determine a successful outcome for a deliverable.
Ideally your organization has identified quality standardsto be applied. If not, determine what you will use for yourproject. Example industry quality standards/ methods: TQM, Six Sigma,
Quality Gates, SPC, Zero Defects, quality circles, continuousimprovement, ISO 9000

Quality Control
Identify the completeness and correctness criteria Completeness and correctness criteria are defined from
the customer’s point of view.
Work with the customer to define a “complete andcorrect” deliverable. The deliverables are evaluated
against these criteria before they are formally approved. Example criteria for Project Charter:
standard template was used for the project charter project deliverables are clearly defined. Example criteria for a product:
95% defect free All regulatory requirements are met All reports and online displays tie out and balance.

Describe the Quality Control activities the project will useto ensure quality standards for project deliverables aremet
“Quality Control makes sure the results of what you have
done are what you expected. Quality control is product oriented.”
Quality control activities are associated with the creationof project deliverables.
Quality control prevents and resolves errors in projectdeliverables.
Quality Control verifies that deliverables are ofacceptable quality and they meet the deliverable qualitystandards and the completeness and correctness criteriaestablished.

processes used to manage and deliver the project’sproduct or service are effective and being applied.Quality assurance can be performed by a manager,customer or third-party reviewer or separate quality
assurance group.
