In the Fall of 2006 Ms. Bledsoe was invited to teach an Elementary Surveying Laboratory course for the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Civil Engineering Department. Ms. Bledsoe accepted this invitation and continues to teach at the University on a part time basis. The Elementary Surveying Laboratory course involves the instruction of undergraduate students in regards to the procedures and techniques of performing field surveys. The first few weeks of instruction introduce the use of elementary surveying equipment such as steel tapes, levels, graduated rods and simple theodolites. During the final few weeks of the course students are taught to use more advanced tools such as total stations and computer aided drafting software for the purpose of collecting data and creating a topographical map. As a registered Civil Engineer Ms. Bledsoe has been involved with the site design of numerous residential, commercial and industrial projects throughout California. Her assignments have included, among other things, the design and preparation of improvement plans for various elements of each project including grading, drainage, sewers, storm drains, water lines and streets. Ms. Bledsoe is proficient with Terramodel (design & drafting), Foresight, Auto Cadd and Microstation/Inroads software as well as many Microsoft software programs including Word, Excel and Power Point.
