Chaucer Foods UK Ltd is a global

food manufacturer supplying to the food

industry, food service and retail sectors.

The Company manufactures a wide

range of croutons, toppings, bread

snacks and crumb products.

We produce products for numerous

national and global brands as well

as for our own brands.

About this manual

This manual provides a brief

overview of our core values and

aims as a responsible

manufacturer and business partner.

It is used in conjunction with the

Company’s policies and

procedures.

Chaucer aims to provide products and services that

consistently meet or exceed our customer’s

expectations whilst maintaining safety and compliance

with all relevant legislation.

Quality assurance

For us quality assurance is much more than

something we can measure. It is the culmination

of our expertise, diligent hard work and honed

manufacturing practices.

It is not only present in the finished product but

also in our interactions with our customers and in

everything we do to achieve and exceed our

customer’s expectations.

We are proud of our position as the world’s premier

soup crouton manufacturer and continually improve

our procedures and processes to maintain that

position.

In doing so we recognise food safety and quality to

be of paramount importance throughout our

business and instil this in every member of our team.

The above is achieved whilst fulfilling the

requirements of the BRC Standard for Food Safety

and the International Food Standard.

Quality management

We recognise that to produce world class products and services, quality and

food safety must be at the forefront of all our minds.

Accreditation

We consider the BRC Standard

for Food Safety a fundamental

pillar of our commitment to

quality and food safety.

We have Halal approval for

a range of our products and

can also obtain Kosher

approval if required.

As part of our commitment to sustainable and

minimal impact practices we are accredited to

ISO 14001

We use only certified

segregated sustainable

palm oil. We are also

RSPO certified.

Our on site laboratory facility is

managed in accordance to the

Campden Lab Accreditation

Service standards.

We shall

Comply with all relevant environmental legislation.

Endeavour to prevent any pollution and carry out all

activities in line with ISO 14001.

Establish and regularly review environmental

objectives under this policy.

Communicate our policy externally and internally

through training and awareness.

Seek to reduce any emissions to land, water and

atmosphere.

Seek to reduce consumption of energy through

efficiency within all our activities.

Minimise the use of natural resources.

Reduce the output of waste and seek to identify

alternative uses to recycle wherever possible.

Consider the environmental stance of our suppliers

and associates.

We seek to continually improve our environmental

performance, respecting and protecting the environment

whilst minimising the environmental impact of our

activities.

Our responsibility to the planet

All manufacturing operations have some impact on the environment. We acknowledge

that we have a responsibility to conduct our business activities in a manner which

respects the environment.

Reducing our impact Through our environmental management program and process efficiencies we have

reduced the landfill bound portion of our waste.

76% of Chaucer waste

is recycled or re-

used.

Consideration is also given to energy &

water usage and process efficiencies within

the environmental management system.

NOTE: Metal is recycled but is a fraction of a percent.

Sustainable palm oil policy Chaucer Foods UK Ltd, through its commitment to

ISO 14001, recognises the current environmental

concerns regarding the usage of palm oil within the

food industry.

Because of this Chaucer Foods UK Ltd has taken the

positive step of only supplying products that are

produced using palm oil that is from a certified,

segregated sustainable source.

Further to its commitment, Chaucer Foods UK Ltd is a

member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil

(RSPO).

Ethical & social accountability Chaucer Foods UK Ltd aims to carry out its operations in an ethical and socially accountable

manner. As such we follow the Ethical Trading Initiative. To this end the Company ensures;

o The Company is a member of SEDEX.

o Employment is freely entered into by employees.

o Personnel in trade unions are not discriminated against.

o Chaucer Foods UK Ltd complies with all local law and best practice with regard to

health and safety.

o No child labour is used.

o Wage policies comply with national law.
