DearParentsandGuardians,

WelcomebacktoallofourfamiliesreturningtoQASthisyear,andaverywarmwelcometoallofthenewfamiliesandstudentswhowillbejoiningusforthefirst.methisyear.

Thisyearpromisestobeanexci.ngonefortheSecondaryschool.Notonlyarewecon.nuingtogrowinnumbers,butthisyearwehavestudentsinallgradesfromgradesixtogradetwelve.InApril2018QASwillseeitsfirstgradua.ngclasscompletetheDiplomaProgramme.Welookforwardtosharingtheirsuccesseswiththecommunityastheyareacceptedintocollegesacrosstheglobe,andcon.nuetomeettheiracademicandpastoralchallenges.

Wearestar.ngtheyearwithcongratula.onsforallofourstudentswhosattheMYPe-assessmentslastMay.ThiswasatrialfortheschoolandfirststepforlastyearsGrade10s.Itwasavaluableexperienceforallthosewhopar.cipatedandIamsurethattheincominggrade10studentswillbeequallysuccessful.

QASislookingforwardtowelcomingallmembersofthecommunityintoschooltolearnmoreabouttheprogrammesweoffer,andtocelebrateourstudents.ThefirstopportunityforparentstojoinusistheBacktoSchoolNightonAugust23rd.Followingfeedbackfromfamilieswewillbeholding

theeventfrom4:00pm-6:00pm.Thiswillprovideanopportunityforfamiliestospeakwithteachers,hearabouttheclassesandtheprogrammesandtotourtheschool.Theprayerroomswillbeavailabletofamilieswhowishtousethembeforeleavingschool.

Wewillcon.nuetoinvitemembersofthecommunityintoschooltolearnmoreabouttheprogrammesandtoseeexamplesofclassesandstudentlearningastheyyearprogress.ThefirstopportunitywillbeonSeptember13thwhenstudentswillpresen.ngontheirlearning.

Inordertoensurethatallstudentsaresuccessfulinschoolwewouldliketotakethisopportunitytoremindthecommunityofthea[endancepolicy: Ifyouchildisabsentfromschoolyouarerequiredtoinformtheschoolthemorningofyourchild’sabsence-thisenablesustoensureyourchild’ssafety.Ifyouchildisawayformorethan2daysyoumustprovideamedicalcer.ficateorgainapprovalfortheabsencefromthePrimaryorSecondaryPrincipal Studentswhoprovideamedicalcer.ficateorhaveapprovalfromthePrincipalwillberecordedasan‘explainedabsence’.Pleasenotethatthisabsencecontributestoyourchild’soveralla[endancerecordasabsentdaysfromschool.Allstudentsareexpectedtohavea90%aKendancerateeachschoolyeartobeeligibleforfinalgrades.

Student Start Date:The first student day is August 20, 2017.  All students are expected to

attend school from this date as teaching and learning begins on the

first day.

Drop off is from 6.40am.  Classes start at 7.00am.  Students arriving after 7.00am will be considered late. Please allow extra time for getting to school this year due to the

changes in the roads.

Pick up time is from 2.00pm.  All students are to be collected by 2.20pm (please note there is no

supervision provided after this time)
