BackgroundThePythonConferenceAsia Pacific (PyConAPAC) started its tour fromSingapore in 2012andhasmadeitswaythroughJapan,Taiwan,MalaysiaandKorea.Coming2018,ithasfinallyreturnedtoSingapore!ThePyConAPACconferencesareheldyearlyacross theAPACregionasameans toengagelocal Pythonpractitioners, and to increase awareness of current applications andpracticesbeingusedworldwide.AsanexusofknowledgesharingandnetworkingwhereexpertsfromvariousdomainsgettogetherandsharehowtheyapplyPythontotheirrolesinindustry,wepromotetheadoptionofnewbestpracticesandincreasedproductivityinwork.The2018conferencewillbemanagedbySingapore’slocalsupportgroupPythonUserGroupSingapore(PUGS).PUGSwasfoundedin2010byagroupofPythonenthusiaststhatwantedtobring thePython language intoSingaporeafter seeing itspotential fromtheir respectivebackgrounds. The founding members were responsible for introduction of the PythonProgramming language intoour learningsyllabus, thesetupofPyConSingaporeandPyConAPAC.Till today,PUGScontinues tosupport the localcommunity throughregularseminarsandmeetups.The topics covered in PyConAPAC typically focuses on subjects at the forefront of Pythondevelopment, ranging fromthecore language, to frameworksandspecificapplications.OurspeakersrangefromourregionalcommunityofaccomplishedPythonusersanddevelopersaswellasinvitedspeakerschampioningaccomplishedapplicationlibraries/packages.This year we will be focusing on key tracks of large interest within the Singapore’scommunitysuchas:

Delegates come to present their latestdevelopments,getfeedbackfromtheirpeers,discussfuturedirectionsandactuallysitdownandworktogetheronimprovingtheirsoftware.With Python already becoming a major enterprise programming language and platform,sponsoringPyConAPAC2018isanexcellentopportunitytodemonstrateindustryleadershipinthispartoftheworld.The estimated attendance of PyCon APAC 2018 is expected to be between 250 to 350delegates.However,thesenumbersarejustestimates;AsofNovember2017,wecanapproximate3,000sociallyactivePythonCommunitymembers(estimatedfromFacebooknumbers)ascomparedto2015wherewehad2,000.TheuptakeofPythoninourSingaporecommunityasofNovember2017standsat16,000ascomparedto8,000in2015.ThegrowingadoptionofPythoninourcommunityareattributedtoseveralfactors,includingrecentgraduateswhohavePython in theirsyllabusand therapidadvancementofdomain-specific functionality by the community (many ofwhich are driven by the open culture ofknowledge sharing encouraged by the local support groups). In addition, Python has nowbecome one of the top popular languages in the world(https://spectrum.ieee.org/computing/software/the-2017-top-programming-languages)

If such permission is given, Sponsor shall assume full responsibility for the conduct of theassigneeandallitsrepresentatives.Sponsorproductdemonstrationsmayinnowayinterferewithdemonstrationsatadjacenttables.INDEMNITY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Neither PUGS, any co-sponsor or display space provider nor any of their officers, agents,employees, facilities,otherrepresentativesorassignsshallbe liable for,andsponsorsherebyreleasesthemfrom,anyclaimsfordamage,loss,harmorinjurytotheperson,propertyorbusinessofsponsororanyofitsvisitors,officers,agents,employeesorotherrepresentatives,resultingfromtheft,fire,earthquake,water,unavailabilityofthefacility,accidentoranyotherreasoninconnectionwiththedisplayattheconference.Sponsorshallindemnify,defendandprotectPUGSandholdPUGS,anyco-sponsorandspaceproviderharmlessfromanyandallclaims,demands,suits,liability,damages,losses,costs,attorney'sfeesandexpenseswhichmightresultorarisefromsponsor'sparticipationintheconference.UndernocircumstancewillPUGS,anyco-sponsorortheexhibitspaceproviderbeliableforlostprofitsorotherincidentalorconsequentialdamages,foranyactsoromissionswhatsoever,includingnegligenceonthepartofPUGS,anyco-sponsorordisplayspaceprovider,whetherornotappraisedofthepossibilityorlikelihoodofsuchdamagesorlostprofits.InnoeventshallPUGSliabilityunderanycircumstanceexceedtheamountactuallypaidtoitbysponsorfordisplayspace.PUGSmakenorepresentationsorwarrantiesregardingthenumberofpersonswhowillattendtheconference.OBSERVANCEOFLAWS:Sponsorshallabidebyandobservealllaws,rules,regulationsandordinances.CANCELLATIONORTERMINATIONOFEXHIBITS:Ifforanyreasonbeyonditsreasonablecontrol,includingfire,strike,earthquake,damage,constructionorrenovationtothedisplaysite,governmentregulation,publiccatastrophe,anactofGodoranysimilarreason,PUGSshalldeterminethattheconferenceoranypartthereofmay not be held, PUGSmay cancel the conference or any part thereof. In that event, PUGS shall determine and refund to sponsors itsproportionateshareofthebalanceoftheaggregatedisplayfeesreceivedwhichremainafterdeductingallexpensesincurredbyPUGS.SPONSORCANCELLATION:Exceptasprovidedunderthecancellationpolicyabove,allpaymentsmadetoPUGSunderthisapplicationshallbe deemed fully earned and non-refundable in consideration for expenses incurred by PUGS and PUG's lost or deferred opportunity toprovidedisplayspacetoothers.SPONSORCONDUCT:Sponsorandallof its representativesshall conduct themselvesatall times inaccordancewithhigheststandardsofdecorumandgoodtaste.PUGSreservetherighttoejectfromtheconferenceanysponsororrepresentativeviolatingthosestandards.AGREEMENTTOTERMS,CONDITIONSANDRULES:Sponsoragreestoobserveandabidebytheforegoingtermsandconditionsandbysuchadditional terms, conditions and rules made by PUGS from time to time for the efficient and safe operation of the conference. Thisapplication represents the entire agreement between sponsor and PUGS concerning the subject matter of this application. PUGS is notmakinganywarrantiesorotheragreementsexceptassetforthabove.AnyamendmenttothiscontractmustbeinwritingsignedbyPUGS.TherightsofPUGSunderthisagreementshallnotbedeemedwaivedexceptasspecificallystatedinwritingandsignedbyanofficerofPUGS.If any termof thisagreement shallbedeclared invalidorunenforceable, the remainderof theagreement shall continue in full forceandeffect.Thisagreementshallbebindingupontheheirs,successorsandassignsofsponsorsubjecttothetermsofthisagreementregardingassignment.
