• Church of England-felt that the church had to go through way too

much reform and left for America• God

-the bible was their true law-they believed working hard and being blessed with money that was an honor to God and you-they worked for the after life and hard work would lead you to a prosperous after life

Community

• They built communities including only Puritans and followed everything under God

• If you could not follow the rules you were forced out of the community or forced to convert to a different religion

• Had their own politicians and members in different positions with in their area

• Were exclusive

Shaping the Community• They had their own system because it created a

healthy economy• They were able to politically look at issues with a

closer eye and concern• They had their own school systems so they could

teach whatever they chose too• They wanted to further create America as an

advanced country and achieved it by focusing on studies and creating an intellectually better community

• Were self sufficient

• Taught through the bible• Wrote poetry, religious in content• Learned to speak Latin• Studied literature• Opened their first school in 1635 called

Roxbury Latin School• Where the first to write books
