>When and how did your relationship with Ibiza begin?

My relationship with Ibiza started in the early 2000s, I’d say probably around 2004. Back then I was signed to Defected and I was playing the Defected parties at El Divino and Pacha for a few years… It all started fifteen years ago.

>How about your relationship withthe Two Cherries?

The first club I entered when I first came on the island was Pacha and it’s been a cherry love story of fifteen years!

>What does it mean to youbeing PURE?

In my opinion, PURE is the essence without unnecessary artifice or accessories. This word has actually inspired my whole approach to playing on Saturday nights at Pacha, which for me has to be the epitome of a club experience in Ibiza. >What is your source of such good energy?

To be honest, my lifestyle is a bit healthier than when I was 20 years old. I think nutrition and playing a bit of tennis is the essence of my good energy!

>How would you define Ibiza’s landscape? How important do you think the conservation of nature in the island is?

I would say that Ibiza offers really contrasting landscapes and tons of diversity for a Mediterranean island. It reflects the typical nature of the Baleares with its tropical, heavenly creeks around Atlantis, Es Vedra… But you can also come across a very green landscape and pine forests between Portinatx and Santa Valeria.

But Ibiza is also very developed, one particular thing you could notice when arriving on the island is the billboard forest all around the airport, which automatically sets the mood. You’ll understand that Ibiza can be both peaceful and wild, depending on why you’re here…

Today the environmental concern is everywhere, so the conservation of nature on the island is obviously very important. It has to be an ongoing debate, particularly when it comes to water management.

>Any piece of advice in regards to environmental issues for people who come to enjoy this beautiful island?

As I was saying previously, the water management on the island is a real issue.

The piece of advice that I could give is to avoid abundant watering of the plants, but also to opt for native plants for your garden as they require less water.

Having said that, I still think that Ibiza should keep its spirit of wildness, parties, and clubs. Concerning the noise pollution, the current regulations are a bit too restrictive… To me, the party is also the soul of Ibiza. However I can totally understand that the music and the sounds can be bothersome. But Ibiza made its reputation with certain values somewhere between hippy vibes and the life of a party, and it must perpetuate!

>What do you do for the planet ata personal level? Any tips?

At a personal level, I started two years ago to drastically limit my consumption of meat. I’m starting to slow down the fish consumption as well, because animal proteins do generate significantly more carbon footprint compared to other foods. I’m also trying to buy as much local and seasonal products possible.

On another topic, I’m doing my best to reduce my consumption of plastic.

However, I must admit that I am not legitimate to teach lessons to anyone, as my job requires me to travel a lot by plane, which is a mode of transportation that creates major pollution.

It started to feel like a moral dilemma to me and my team, and we discussed it a lot this year.

It might appear completely ludicrous to say it, but still I’m about to say it. We did try during the whole year to remove as much as we could; all the transportations by plane or jet when it was unnecessary, and find other alternatives less polluting.

In the future I’ll definitely be addressing this issue, and that might mean working differently, less traveling, doing less shows…

That is something I am considering.

This summer Pacha Group’s CEO has announced the development of a few imminent key actions taking place on the island…

“We want to announce the arrival of a new era and our commitment to the environment. Our goal is to gradually remove all the plastic items of a single use within the Pacha Group”.

“We have pledged 15,000 euros to the Marine Forum of Ibiza and Formentera, taking place in September. An inter-sectoral collaboration to study and analize the real situation of the Balearic Islands’ waters and the conservation of our sea.”

“The company announces the withdrawal of single use plastic straws in all facilities and premises operated by Pacha Group – Pacha Ibiza, Lío Ibiza, Destino Pacha Resort and El Hotel Pacha - effectively eliminating 300,000 units this year alone.”

“Our aim is to gradually phase out all single use plastic elements within the Pacha Group by 2023, effectively aligning with the Plastic Free policy.”

“Pacha Group will be the official sponsor offering 300 bicycles for public use in the port of Ibiza.”

“Pacha Group today presents a firm and determined commitment to contribute our grain of sand to a green and sustainable world. As we say in Ibiza, poc a poc, step by step, “Pacha goes Green”.
