To all Boilermaker fans and supporters:

I hope you share in my excitement for the future of our football program with the hiring of Darrell Hazell as head coach.

Darrell and I share the same goal: Getting Boilermaker Football back to the Rose Bowl

As John Purdue Club members and season-ticket holders, I know you support our aspiration to be champions, and I hope we can count on your help to get us there.

Over the past five years, we have invested 16 million new dollars in our football program, highlighted by improvements to practice facilities; upgrades to academic support, sports medicine and sports performance areas; and, most recently, the hiring of our new coaching staff.

We also are committed to investing the necessary time and effort, but it will take more than that to get us where we want to go. Increasing our financial backing is essential as coaches’ salaries and operating expenses continue to escalate.

As a result, we are asking for your support by participating in the Ross-Ade Stadium Legacy Fund seating plan, similar to the one we successfully implemented in Mackey Arena and a modest one compared with others in the Big Ten Conference. By being part of this new initiative, you can help us generate more than $2.5 million that will be invested right back into our football program.

We are proud to be one of only a handful of NCAA institutions that operates without any state or university funding (22 out of more than 300 in fiscal year 2010-11), and the primary reason we can function that way is through your generous support. Together we will accomplish great things. Boiler Up! Hammer Down! Hail Purdue!

Morgan Burke

FROM THE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR

Page 4: Purdue Football: Building a Legacy

For generations, Purdue football has created countless memories for Boilermakers everywhere.

Some will say our student-athletes and coaches have accomplished much with limited resources. And the fact is, as the chart on the next page shows, our spending for controllable expenses (coaching salaries, equipment, academic support, recruiting and travel) has been at the bottom among Big Ten schools.

We recognized there was a gap and, with 16 million new dollars invested in football over the past five years, we have climbed to the middle of the pack. These additional funds have been used for improvements to Schleicher Field and the Mollenkopf Athletic Center and the creation of the Bimel Practice Complex, as well as significant upgrades in academic support, sports medicine and sports performance, and the hiring of a new coaching staff.

To help offset the continued cost of these and future endeavors, we are asking you to share our commitment to Boilermaker Football by purchasing season tickets. The implementation of the Legacy Fund seating plan has the potential to generate the funds to move Purdue’s financial investment into the upper echelon of the Big Ten and enable our student-athletes and coaches to compete at a championship level.

The actual cost associated with the Legacy Fund seating plan is not as significant as it may initially appear. In the Prime category that requires a $250 donation per seat, we are reducing the cost of the season ticket from $357 to $273. To the right is a breakdown of the effective pricing increase in the Legacy Fund areas when all factors are considered.

The revenue generated from this plan will go directly to support recent upgrades and future investments in the football program. This income is critical if we are to achieve our goal to be champions and get back to the Rose Bowl.

The stadium diagram on the next page reflects the areas that will have a per seat donation tied to them. The plan covers less than 25 percent of the total seating capacity in Ross-Ade Stadium.

All per seat donations will accrue John Purdue Club Priority Points at one point per $100 but will not apply to membership levels. This arrangement is consistent with the Mackey Arena Legacy Fund seating plan and the premium seat licenses for both football and basketball.

As the chart below shows, Legacy Fund seating plans are a common practice across the Big Ten. Of the schools that have a similar plan in place, our required donations will be the lowest in the conference.

For your commitment to our program, those who purchase or renew seats in the Legacy Fund areas will receive the following incentives:

•Double priority points on the per seat donation amount for 2013 season tickets.•Price freeze on football tickets and per seat donations through the 2015 season.• Invitation to a designated spring practice.•Bring a Friend ticket voucher for each seat purchased, redeemable for the first home game under

new head coach Darrell Hazell – Sept. 7, 2013, against Indiana State.

LEGACY FUND BENEFITS

Page 9: Purdue Football: Building a Legacy

The easiest way for you to help is to purchase season tickets and contribute to the John Purdue Club. Continuing your current commitment or increasing it will go a long way toward helping us be successful. As you know, the athletics department does not receive any university funding or state support.

Please understand: When it comes to seat locations, we are not reseating Ross-Ade Stadium. So, as long as you renew by the priority deadline, you will continue to enjoy your current seats. If you would like to move or upgrade your seats, please make that request when you renew, and we will make every effort to accommodate.

On behalf of our student-athletes and staff, we thank you for your support and look forward to you being a part of building a legacy for Boilermaker Football.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

TMTM

The annual contributions of our generous John Purdue Club members are used solely to underwrite the nearly $10 million annual scholarship and academic support costs for our 500-plus student-athletes. Maintaining your current level or increasing your support will ensure that these resources remain available.

In addition to your annual JPC contribution, participating in the Legacy Fund seating plan is a way to specifically support our football program.

As a self-supporting auxiliary enterprise – as mandated by the Board of Trustees and endorsed by the President – Purdue Athletics relies on the support of our more than 8,000 John Purdue Club members. Since its inception in 1958, the club has been the home of Purdue’s most loyal and devoted backers. Today, it remains true to the ideals first envisioned by President Frederick Hovde and Athletics Director Guy “Red” Mackey – a family of fans who share a passion for the Old Gold and Black and a commitment to providing a Purdue education for this generation of student-athletes. John Purdue Club members provide our student-athletes with a foundation for success in the classroom, in the competition venues and in life after graduation.
